Description: An electric engine-cooling fan built for the demands of your big truck, and then some. This fan -the most powerful on the market- is the answer to the overheating problems caused by slow in-city driving or heavy towing, and solves the cooling problems that occur with body lifts. This unit responds based on cooling need (not just engine speed) to maintain optimum engine temperature. Up to 17 additional horsepower -dyno proven- is transferred to the wheels by removing the belt driven fan and fan clutch. Decreased load on the engine results in improved fuel economy - up to 2-3 mpg. Pulls a whopping 5,500 cfm.

Pros: Hopefully better mileage TBD. Better throttle response.
Cons: Haven't found any yet

Installed in 2001 4.6V8. Rating will go up if my mileage increases. I like the controller that runs only 60% with AC on or initial turn on when temp reaches setting. Fans kick up to 100% when 10 degree increase is indicated. The multi-use fit-all installation brackets didn't allow for some small collant lines running out of my radiator on the drivers side, so some mods were in order. You need three arms to get to the bracket bolts when you put the fan in. Be patient. All in all great looking and fitting unit. Pic's to be posted soon.

Pros: Looks like it came from the ford factory.
Cons: Only time will tell.

I just installed a flex-a-lite 270 on 3/11/07. Excellent product. Perfect fit. Took about 9 hours total to install, including the time it took to find all the electrical connection on my truck. This included finding AC connections, key on power and routing of wires though truck. Spent $7 dollars on miscellaneous items, like wire loom and rocker switch. I chose this fan over the Troyer Fan because of the Flex-a-Lite Fan allows the fan unit to be mounted on the sides of the radiator instead of thru the fins. Mounting thru the fins tends to lead to leaks in your radiator from vibration. Fits perfect on my 2006 4.6 STX Flareside.
