Description: This is a programmer that is supposed to increase horsepower and torque. It has the ability to program tire size, gearing, auto trans, shift firmness, and octane rating changes. I own an '06 FX4 with 35" tires and gearing changed to 4:10s. This product did not work on my truck. I got trouble codes that said the tire size was out of range when set to read 34 inches which corrected my speedometer. Two calls did not help and neither did an e-mail thet was never answered. I never notice any power increase. On a stock truck it may work but be warned if you are running bigger tires. I had one on a Dodge diesel that was awsome!

Pros: Simple, straightforward install
Cons: takes about 30 minutes

I already had a KandN FIPK and exhuast before I installed the Hypertech. I bought it when I began running 33" tires. I do not have access to a Dyno or any type of measureing equipment but the "feel" was noticable to me. The driveability across all the ranges improved. This is no miracle tool- but it got gains and was able to recalibrate my system for the larger tires. The only rock solid number I can give is that without Hyptertech III I ran 2300RPM @ 75MPH, with Hypertech 17-1800RPM @ 75MPH. This was on the same road, same conditions. I would recommend this to someone who is looking to get the most fuel efficiency out of their engine but if you are on a budget I would get the cold air intake and exhuast done first they made more noticable and measurable gains.

Pros: Plug and Play for a 5.4L
Cons: Doesn't work the first time if you have the Work truck model

We put one on my dad's 5.4L and had to send it back because his truck is the XL + 1 model where it is the work based model and Hypertech had to reprogram the module to work for it. The only difference we noticed was that He can go over 100 mph right up to 135 mph, and 3mpg diffence in highway gas milage, and better shifts for towing but no more power than it already had. The first time the truck went out on a job it pulled a 12000 pound trailer at 85mph with no hesistation, and now it still pulls a 12000 pound trailer load with no hesistation. it is also faster to pick up speeds but thats cause the shifting is different. Try the power progammer if you like it keep it if not you can sell it on ebay for about the same money you paid.
