Pros:
more torque
Cons:
not loud enough
Installed on 93 F150 5.0L. Wanted a more manly sounding truck. Some noticable increase in engine performance.
Not loud enough due to the fact that, by nature, the catalytic converter cuts down on engine noise b4 it gets to tail end exhaust.
Has a good hollow sound though.

Third Vehicle with one of these. You can never go wrong. Not too loud at highway speeds to drive you friggin' nuts. Sounds great at startup and idle. City driving is throaty enough to set you apart from the rest. Just a hint, Buy the cat-back DOR on Ebay for $125.00. Same components, same results.

Switched from stock muffler to 40 series, a little bit better sound, but not much, no performance of mpg gains. Upgraded to Super 40. MUCH better sound, and no not obnocious. Very slight increase in performance, no mpg gains.

Switched from single in dual out 40 series to true dual 40 series with H pipe and rear cats removed on 04 5.4...sounds SO much better! Nice rumble at idle, sounds sweet around town and on highway! A little punch of the throttle really wakes it up now. Get true duals NOT single in dual out...trust me!

I have 3" with these on a 2004 Heritage 4.6. The sound is awesome and I can feel a bit of added power. Also helped the MPG by 1-2.

sound not too great

i got my 40 series for my 5.4 V8 a few years back and i kept telling myself i wanted it louder. it had a great deep sound when i started the truck but when accelerating and driving no one could tell i had flows. so recently i took off the cats, which you need to pass inspection in TX...but straight pipe to flow master sounds EXCELLENT! its loud ALL the time. but i must admit it is obnoxious too!
