Description: K&N Performance Kits are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your vehicle's engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine's RPM range, with even greater power gains in turbocharged and supercharged engines. The filters on these kits are washable and reusable.

THE FIPK DESIGN CONCEPT:
The FIPK was designed to promote performance in fuel injected stock engines by creating air filtration with the least resistance in air flow. The benefit of low resistance air filters can be felt directly in throttle response. In addition to the filter, these kits have uniquely designed adapters. These adapters create a radius entry which reduces restriction and allows the engine to ingest an even greater volume of air. To design such an assembly, two factors must be considered: the air filtering element and the air filter adapter. The FIPK combines a precision high flow K&N air filter element with other necessary components, depending on the specific application. K&N's Generation II represents yet another evolution in air intake technology. These break-through engineering designs contain all the performance improvements you expect from K&N - but with even greater benefits. What is truly remarkable about the Generation II kits is that they consistently achieve incredible horsepower gains even under varying atmospheric conditions. This process is accomplished by replacing the entire air intake tract, thus isolating the cold air and directing the air through this truly unique chamber delivery system. This process may or may not include a heat shield. In fact, during testing on a Jeep Grand Cherokee we had repeat gains of 26.3 horsepower. We also have dyno test results showing torque increases through the towing ranges of no less than 23 ft. lbs.

THE FIPK EFFECT:
Replacing the O.E.M. factory air cleaner assembly with a precision engineered K&N FIPK or the Generation II, will provide fully maximized air flow potential, creating an instant throttle response to please any performance enthusiast. Because they meet the standards of the C.A.R.B., FIPK's come with a high temperature label that contains an E.O. number. FIPK's are the results of K&N's Engineering vision and excellence: the vision to create environmentally sound performance products and the excellence to stand behind those products. To ensure all the power and performance that your fuel injected stock engine is capable of giving, install a high quality K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit and feel the power in the air! What does this mean to you? You get better acceleration, instant power, and ease in lane changing and passing even while towing by installing our FIPK Generation II. K&N gives you performance that will last for 10 years or one million miles, and we guarantee it!

Pros: Acceleration!!!!
Cons: Quite a nice chunk of cheese

I put this on my 2003 Ranger 3.0 and it made the exhaust louder at full throttle and helped me chirp into 3rd gear on 32x11.50 which i couldn't really even do on the stock tires. Overall good acceleration and about 10 hps at high rpm's

Pros: Quicker throttle response, faster install than 6 years ago
Cons: none

Seemed easier & faster to install on my 1998 4.6L than the last one (in 1998). Found the best price on eBay

Pros: nice inrease in throttle response
Cons:

Got my intake this morning and got it installed this morning. It was easy to install in less than two hours. Possible to do with the tools they recommend that you have, faster and easier if you have more than what they recommend. Would recommend this product to anyone.

Pros: Better than the stock bulb that was there.
Cons: Good marketing convinces many to get air first for mods.

Would have liked to have a cold duct system with it to catch cooler air. Easy installation, immediate results when you drive for the first time. A necessity, but not for $250-300 in the beginning stages of mods.

Pros: great acceleration
Cons: high rpm shifts (5000) when floored from stop

Put it on my 1998 4.6l F150 4x4 Lariat Supercab Flareside outdoors with my wife with a tornado warning (sirens going off). I love the fact that my truck can now throw me back in the seat a little. I enjoy passing people quicker. And it sounds great. Took a little longer than the 45 min.s I planned on, maybe an hour. Had to steal a hose off of my '82 F150 because the one sent was too big.

Pros: A little increase in acceleration and power
Cons: Cost

Easy to install, 2 hours tops. Heat shield doesn't really keep out the hot air. Can't feel anything til you get into passing gear. Makes the engine a little louder, which I like. Over all not worth the 270 donuts.

Pros: MPG and power/acceleration increase
Cons: I had to trim the plastic cover, I got a backflow whistle without the factory valve.

Easy enough to install, but using just the 90 degree hose supplied caused me to get a whistle when i let up off the excellerator. I tried tightning everything again, but after cutting the plastic cover and trimmed that plastic valve end, it works like a champ. Got a great price online, do a google search for K&N performance. I paid $189 shipped to the house!

Pros: MPG and HP
Cons: heat shield could have been pre installed to save time.

I received and installed this the same day and as soon as I pulled it out onto the open road there was an immediate difference. Better throttle response and the engine definately has a deeper groan. I love it, it does help gas mileage but when you just love feeling that little extra horse power you might not gain so much HP because you will catch yourself hammering the gas all the time just to feel and hear the difference LoL
