Description:

Superchips "MAX" Micro Tuner for 1996 thru 2003 Ford Trucks, Vans & SUV's with the following gasoline engines: 4.6L, 5.0L(302), 5.4L, 5.8L(351) & 7.5L(460) V8 engines, also for the 6.8L V10's. This includes F-150 (all models including Lightning & Harley), Expedition, F-250 Light Duty, F-250 & 350 SuperDuty V-10's, Explorer, etc.
This is the one all you F-150, Lightning, Harley, Expedition, E-150 thru E-350 Van owners & V10 SuperDuty owners have been waiting for!
Allows you to quickly and easily upload Superchips performance tuning without even touching the vehicle's PCM (computer). The Micro Tuner stores your factory program so you can return to stock at anytime for vehicle service, etc.
The 1715 Micro Tuner provides 3 different programs (except on factory-supercharged 5.4's) - one for 87 octane that is towing compatible, then the "normal" performance program that requires premium gasoline (91 thru 94 octane) that is towing compatible (also called "tow-perf"), and finally, the "max" performance program which requires premium fuel and is *NOT* towing compatible - it's for all-out performance!
In the factory-supercharged SVT Lightning & Harley models, there are 2 different performance tunes - 1 for use with stock boost levels, and another to provide proper custom tuning for use with a 4 PSI pulley.
The Micro Tuner unlocks maximum horsepower and torque *all* the time, at any throttle position & at any rpm. This is the only programmer on the market that tunes the engine for more power on part-throttle as well as on full-throttle, and that is CARB & EPA 50-state emissions approved (documentation included with unit). The Micro Tuner requires no gimmicks like abnormally low temperature thermostats, etc.
For the 1999 & newer V8's, this Micro Tuner can also recalibrate the speedometer for changes in tire size and/or gear ratio. It also allows altering of full-throttle shift points, individually! The 1-2, 2-3 & 3-4 upshift points and shift firmness levels are manually adjustable for each shift individually! (Note: We recommend accepting the Superchips "defaults" for shift points & shift firmness levels and drive it that way for a month or so, to allow you to see & feel how Superchips has already optimized those parameters. Manual adjustments are rarely needed, this function is available for those relatively few situations in which a manual adjustment might actually be beneficial or desired).
The Micro Tuner also has built in OBD-II code scanner so you can retrieve & clear codes if you get a SES (Service Engine Soon, commonly referred to as a "Check Engine" light). This feature can be used on other OBD-II FoMoCo vehicles even after you have tuned your vehicle.
The tuning in the Micro Tuner can be used with other modifications such as intake kits, cat-back exhaust systems, electric fan conversions, underdrive pulleys, larger throttle bodies & many types of ignition upgrades.
For more involved modifications, such as a supercharger, aftermarket MAF (or even using a Ford 90mm MAF as an upgrade), larger fuel injectors, ported cylinder heads, etc., custom engine tuning will be required. (Anyone doing or contemplating these types of modifications should call us to go over their various options - we can do any custom tuning needed!)
The Superchips 1715 Ford Truck, Van & SUV Micro Tuner - perfect for better performance in your daily driver, tow vehicle, & even at the track!

Pros:
Easy to install, like the superchips tranny shift points, power gains that you can feel.
Cons:
Must use 91+ octane fuel for power gains, can only be used on one vehicle.

Very happy with the Superchips tuner and the results I would recommend it to anyone. Only programmer I have owned so can't compare to Hypertech or others but this should be the first performance upgrade you get for your truck.

Easy to use, you can really see/feel the difference.
Cons:
91+octane a must if you want the best performance.
I agree this should be the first upgrade you do. It's the cheapest way to get the most performance out of your truck. It is the only programer I have bought so I dunno about the rest but this one I would/ buy again to use on my '96 mustang GT

I gained about a 1.5 mpg increase average. I can feel a difference the moment I programmed the truck. I really like the way I can set the tire size (I am always buying new and different tires/sizes). I do not like the fact that it is now VIN locked, but I was told from my dealer, you can send it back to Superchips and they will reset it as "brand new" for a small fee. I do not know how true this is, as I have no intention of buying another microtuner.

easy to use, only one I have so I can not compare either
Cons:
1 only truck, not much info in manual on Custom Settings

I like it, you can feel the different in Performance Mode, I run 87 and you can see the improvement about 1.5 to 2 MPG. Truck uesd to start up at 2200 rpm cool, call SuperChip and they reprogrammed it to 1500 rpm and only charged me shipping. They were very easy to contact and talk to.
