Description: I recently had my local Muffler Masters install a Cat-Back dual exhaust system with a Flowmaster Series 40 muffler on my 2003 XLT w/4.6, AT, and 3.55LS SpaceCab. One pipe in and two out. I watched the technician do the work. This was my second vehicle to get the exact same system so I knew the company and the workmanship. I paid extra for the 2.5" chrome slash cut exhaust tips straight out the back. Overall job took 2 hours. Excellent workmanship. Sounds great and not as loud as the 'true dual' exhaust systems with either dual catalytic converters or a single cat with dual Flowmasters and exhaust pipes. My first 3 tanks of gas show an increase of 1.2 mpg over factory stock exhaust on the highway. This equates to just under an 8% mpg improvement. I am fixing to do my own cold air mod and probable cooling mod to further help improve fuel economy. Overall significant improvement in throttle response and engine performance. Lifetime warranty from Muffler Masters and Flowmaster. Price without chrome tips is $250 w/out tax. Price shown is out the door.

Pros: Easy to install (2-2.5 hours), nice fit, all necessary hardware included, good instructions.
Cons: None

I put this on my 2002 5.4L F150 Super Crew. The biggest part of the job was separating the joint in front of the muffler. Installation was easy. Takes a little tweaking to get the tips lined up as I opted for the rear exiting system. I had plenty of clearance around hitch and 17" spare tire. I used Flowmaster part #17222. Sounds great, not too loud. I am very happy with this system. I won't give a price, because this was the last one in stock where I purchased it.

Pros: nice sound just not loud enough
Cons: not loud enough

the first thing i did to my supercrew was put flowmaster cat back system. but i friend of mine custom bends his own pipes so i just got a 40 series muffler and he did the rest. but it didnt quite give it the sound i was hoping for. the truck is pretty much stock. it is programmed by hypertech, and some little things like throttle body and cold air intake. but are you satisfied with the system.

Pros: different sounds to fit different "needs"
Cons:

i bought a flowmaster cat-back dual out suv series for my '05 5.4l and i really like it. it is one of the quieter mufflers that flowmaster makes b/c i didnt want to grow weary of the sound of the exhaust while driving on road trips. with this exhaust there is plenty of sound coming from the rear when pushing the truck .. yet when cruising at highway speeds you dont hear or feel the vibration inside the cab. my friend got the 40series on his GMC and i dont like having to talk over the exhaust while driving down the highway with the windows up. just me though.

Pros: Sound, Fit, Hardware
Cons:

Installed the Force II cat back system on 01 super crew yesterday. Overall and easy install. The hardest part was getting the old pipe in front of the muffler off. I ended up taking it off a head of where it was supposed to come off and went to NAPA and bought a new 18" pipe ($10).

The sound is perfect... just above stock and not loud that it becomes a neg rather than a positive. Power has slight increase...waiting to see how it does on gas.

Pros: sounds better than stock
Cons: ....... I can kinda hear it .......

I waited and waited and waited to get dual exhaust on my 03 F150 4X4, and lamented whether to go with the all out performance of the Super 40, or go with the more conservative 40 series. I decided to go with the Super 40, but when I went to have it done all the workers (and customers) at the muffler shop swore the Super 40 was waaaaaaay to loud and suckered me into going with a regular 40 series. Big mistake. My previous truck was a 97 F150 4X4 and it had a huge hole in the muffler. Only after I wussed out did I discover that there are 2 differences between a 97 and an 03. First, the muffler on my 97 was almost directly under the cab, making the hole in the muffler seem so much louder, and on my 03 the muffler is under the bed by the rear tire. Second, the 03 has superior noise dampening. After getting used to the dull roar of the hole in the muffler on my 97, the ever so faint rumble on my 03 is very disappointing. I can literally stand right next to the tail pipe and barely hear it. The only time I can really hear it is if I roll down the windows and punch it. As far as performance gains - negligable. As far as improved gas mileage - negligable. If you want dual exhaust with a muffler that sounds better than stock without turning any heads, go with the 40 series. If you want performance with a sound to match the badass feel of you truck, go with the Super 40. Hands down.
