Pros: Flows more air, Re-usable
Cons: Cost

Overall I'm happy with the filter. I've heard that it actually lets more dirt through but haven't seen much to substantiate that.

Pros: Increased airflow, improved sound/performance
Cons: Price

I added the K&N air filter at 15000 miles. I immediately noticed an increase in airflow - not a huge amount, but a noticeable difference. The engine sounds better and I noticed a bit of throttle response - again, not huge, but noticeable. The filter is a bit pricey, but I think it will pay for itself over the years - for 9.99 you can get the cleaner and clean it yourself every 50,000 miles, thus eliminating the need to purchase a new filter. I have used K&N filters since 1994 in all of my vehicles and have never had any trouble with the filters themselves and have always noticed improved airflow. I would recommend it to anyone.

Pros: You can tell your friends you have K&N
Cons: No preformance gain

I have always used K&N. Many auto pros tell me to stay away from them because they void your warranty. Oh well. I took out the dirty black old filter and poped in one of these.
Besides a slightly more responsive throttle there was no difference in power. Gas mileage never chaged either when compared to the dirty black filter I threw away. I still get 10 MPG on my 2001 F150. Darn it!

Pros: Better Mileage, increased throttle response
Cons: Inital Price

These filters are great. Of course, I cringed at the inital cost, but it was well worth it. For a 1998 4.6L 4x2 with 130000+ miles, 23 MPG is excelent. There is a better throttle response and more power on demand, useful for passing and towing. Cleaning is a snap, and all you need is the cleaning kit ($10) and running water.

Pros: easy to replace
Cons: none

I just put one on my 2004 F-150 STX XL Auto 4.2 V6 at 21,000 miles and noticed a little quicker throttle responce and less "sluggish" feel when laying down the throttle. Definatly has more air flow then the stocker!

Pros: Easy install
Cons: None

I put the filter in about 2 months ago. The for the price it was worth it. Install is the same as a regular air filter but you will get better throttle responce over the stock paper filter. It will also pay its self off over a year or two. Hp gains and fuel milage is noticable but not much, about 2-3 Hp and about 1 mpg, but it will move in the top end!

Pros: reuseable, better mileage
Cons: none

Yes, I keep track of my mileage and I get 40-50 more miles out of a tank. It does cost alot but I plan on keeping my truck for a looooooong time so I feel it's worth it.

Pros: None
Cons: Lowered Performance

Shortly after buying my truck I installed the K&N air filter becuase so many spoke positively of the filters. After install I noticed a drop in mpg & a very little boost in performance which came in intervals. After about a year the thin rubber gasket split in two. I noticed I had to recharge the filter every six months at max, beyond that & the engine seemed to lag, the filter also gets dirty very easy, when it came time to clean the filter the filter looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in years. I drive down gravel roads about twice a year at slow speeds. Since reinstalling a Motorcraft factory oem filter my mpg has gone up & the engine runs smoother & it seems each time the engine has no problem performing. My guess is that the K&N air filters are best when used with the K&N intake systems, but I'm probably wrong.
