Here is my 2006 F-150 with an aerodynamic truck cap I have constructed on it. It increased my gas milage by 4 mpg during highway travel. My fuel usage went from 18mpg to 22mpg just by installing the fastback truck cap. There have been two wind tunnel tests on this truck cap and the Engineering data gained showed a sizeable reduction in aerodynamic drag.

There is much more interior room than a tonneau cover and the roof raises high for access to the interior. You can lower sides and a rear hatch for camping or to haul taller cargo. If you have really tall cargo, the roof comes off leaving the lower part of the cap attached. A rear view camera takes care of any vision problems you may have while backing up when the cap is in the closed aerodynamic position.

The aerodynamic truck cap saves one gallon of gas for every 100 miles you drive at highway speed. Go on a 500 mile trip, you save 5 gallons of gas, or at $3.00/gal, $15.00. Put 50,000 freeway miles on your truck, you save 500 gallons of gas. If gas stays around $3.00 a gallon, you will have saved $1500.00. If gas goes higher ......
