Just got it back from the shop. $250 for a new key cylinder! The DMV inspector twisted it off during this year's inspection visit. That's one more reason NOT to have yearly inspections!

This green XLT just passed it's 10th birthday purchased as a new 96 on Oct 31st 1995. 93K - averages out to 9,300 miles per year!
Only problems after 10 years are:
1) Steering pump after 8 mos/ replaced under warranty.
2) Shift pin that locks shifter in park broken at 7th year/ replaced $230.00
3) Keyswitch pin on keyswitch that connects key to electrical switch/ replaced 250.00
Think the next ten years will be this easy?

Still going strong...96,620K miles. Purchased a new ignition control module this summer. Labor was $350. the part was only $130. Maybe I should start looking for a personal mechanic to come to my home on call. He can work on my truck for a whole week at that rate and keep all that money for himself instead of fueling the corporate repair shop.
Here is an article on Service Bulletins with other links about them... http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/maintenance/articles/44745/article.html

103,300 miles today. No problems since the ICM. Anyone find a good interior lighting system for a camper top? Mine is not bright enough (one 15W bulb). I have the wiring to connect it to my tailgate/bedlight but I'm thinking of putting two lights mounted in the rear corners, (above each brake light) and a trigger switch for the rear gate window to keep them off when I'm just unlocking my truck.
