Ford Harley-Davidson Trucks
Ford Motor Company and Harley-Davidson teamed up back in 1999 and signed a 5-year deal in preparation for what was to happen in 2003 - both companies were to celebrate 100 years in business. The two companies discovered that many Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiasts also owned Ford trucks. Truthfully that's probably not a big surprise since the F-150 was America's best-selling truck for decades! So they teamed up to produce special edition Ford F-Series trucks. The deal was so successful that they continued this partnership for over a decade.
2000 Ford Harley F-150
2000
was the first model year for the Ford - Harley-Davidson trucks. In all, 8,197
Ford Harley trucks were produced for 2000. All trucks had the same configuration:
Black monochromatic look, Unique 20" wheels, SuperCab, Flareside, Specially
tuned exhaust. The slogan was "Born in Detroit, Dressed in Milwaukee"
and the truck was unveiled in Sturgis. Harley-Davidson had quite a bit of input on the truck's styling. This was the first American production truck with 20" wheels all the way around.
2001 Ford Harley F-150
For
2001 there were a few changes. The truck was now a SuperCrew model (a new cab
style for 2001). All trucks were black and the pinstripe was changed. The orange
stripe was moved lower on the truck and a grey stripe was added below the orange
one. The seat stitching was different. Production was down from 2000 to 6,381
units.
2002 Ford Harley F150
Ford
truck and Harley-Davidson fans had something to really get excited about again
for 2002. That's because the Ford Harley truck was now supercharged! Boasting
340 horsepower, this 5.4L V8 truck was a blast to drive and really turned heads!
The engine was a slightly detuned SVT Lightning engine.
The trucks were all two wheel drive (RWD) and were available in two colors:
Dark Shadow Grey and Black. The truck received a new grille (billet style) among other minor styling changes. There were 12,505 Harley F-150's produced for 2002.
2003 Ford Harley F-150
The
2003 Harley F150 is similar to the 2002 model. It's again a SuperCrew cab, RWD,
supercharged. The truck got a new valance, paint schemes, and 100th Anniversary
badging. 2003 marked the 100th anniversary for both Ford and Harley-Davidson.
There was unique 100th anniversary badges on the fenders, tailgate, center console
(individually sequenced VIN plate), and body stripe. This will be the last year
that the Harley-Davidson truck will be an F-150 for a while. There were 10,047
trucks produced for 2003.
2004 Ford Harley F-250 F-350
Ford
and Harley-Davidson extended their alliance. For 2004, the Harley-Davidson branded
Ford truck was now a Super Duty, and Harley truck buyers had choices this year. The 2004 Ford Harley-Davidson truck was available
as a F-250 or F-350. All were 4WD, but there was a lot of choice. New was a
black & orange paint scheme. You could get an Extended or Crew cab style,
short or long box, gas V10 or diesel engine. They also came with the exhaust
tip, 18" polished wheels, badging, etc. We don't have an exact production number, but there were over 10,000 of these trucks produced.
2005 Ford Harley F250 F350
For
2005, Ford gave the option of either a F-250 or F-350 Harley Super Duty truck.
The neat thing about the 2005 Harley trucks was that they used a wet-on-wet
paint type and some models had flames on the bottom portion of the truck.
All 2005 Harley trucks were Crew Cab models with four wheel drive. There were
three paint options: black with red ghost flames along the bottom of the rocker
panels; True Blue with Wedgewood Blue ghost flames along the bottom; or black
with a Harley orange pinstripe. Actual production numbers are unknown, but from
what we can tell there were a little over 5,000 produced.
2006 Ford Harley F150
In
2006, the Ford Harley truck was an F-150 again, and again the only color you could get it in was black. What's new for 2006 was the
introduction of available All-Wheel-Drive (AWD), the first for any Ford pickup.
Also, it came standard with 22" polished forged aluminum wheels with a
unique design. The only engine available was the regular 5.4L V8 with 300 horsepower as found in the regular F-150 lineup. Actual production numbers are not known, but Ford told press
they would produce up to 10,000 of these trucks.
2007 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 SuperCrew
For
2007 the Ford Harley truck was again an F-150 SuperCrew. There were few changes over the 2006 model. Ford added a new Dark Amethyst exterior color. AWD was an option again.
However, during the summer of 2007, Ford offered a seriously powerful supercharged version of the truck. Only available in 2WD configuration, the boosted Harley F-150 put out 450hp and 500 lb-ft of torque out of the Saleen supercharged 5.4L V8. This was the most powerful Ford truck ever produced.
2008 Ford Harley F150 F250 F350
For
2008 Ford and Harley-Davidson celebrated their 105th anniversaries. The big
news was two-fold. There were two Harley trucks available - the F-150, and the
F-250/F-350 Super Duty. Also, the F-150 had a supercharger again. The Super Duty Harley
trucks were virtually unchanged, but the F-150 was bad to the bone, putting
out a tire-shredding 450 horsepower!
2009 Ford Harley Super Duty (including F-450)
For 2009, Ford and Harley-Davidson teamed up again for Harley Super Duty trucks. You could get a F-250/F-350 single rear wheel Harley truck. But new for 2009 was the availability of a F-450 Harley-Davidson edition, the "Big Hog Daddy" of the road.
The F-450 also received the unique blue-flame paint scheme that starts at the side vents and runs down to the box side of the truck. The flame design scheme is carried through to the interior gauges in the instrument panel.
The custom perforated black leather wrapped seats, door panels and center console cover reveal blue leather underneath giving the same blue-flame effect as the exterior. Harley-Davidson badges are present on the fenders and tailgate, along with "Harley-Davidson" script located on the box side.
2010 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson Edition
For 2010, the F-150 is once again the Ford Harley edition truck. The paint scheme for 2010 is classic Harley-Davidson - Tuxedo Black and the first Ford application of Lava, a deep maroon with three-color metal flake.
The truck sports 22" wheels and the regular 5.4L V8 F-150 engine with 320 hp, and sport-tuned exhaust. All 2010 Harley trucks are SuperCrew models, and were available in 2WD or AWD. The truck had a lowered appearance because of fully integrated deployable running boards.
2011 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson Edition
The 2011 F-150 Harley-Davidson special edition truck was a continuation of the 2010 Harley truck. In 2011, the truck again had a unique look with Harley/Ford badging, and you had your choice of two colors; Ingot Silver and Tuxedo Black. Both trucks came with bodyside graphics reminiscent of "speed scallops" used on hot rods.
The Harley F-150 now has the premium 6.2L V8 engine that puts out 411hp. Also new for 2011 is a new in-dash 4.2" productivity LCD screen. Standard things included on the 2011 model include power moonroof, backup camera, second row heated seats, navigation, and more.
During the 2011 model year, Ford had sold more than 70,000 Harley-Davidson F-Series trucks since the brand teamed up in 1999.
2012 Ford Harley Pickup Truck
The old adage "if it's not broke, don't fix it" applies to the 2012 Harley F150. There were very few changes for the 2012 Harley F-150 pickup. Instead of silver or black color choices, the truck was available in White Platinum Tri-Coat or Tuxedo Black. The truck had the usual Harley treatment consisting of bodyside decals, wheels, and leather interior. Just like 2011, the truck only came with the 6.2L V8 engine.
What is unique with the 2012 Harley F150 is the snakeskin texture brought to the bodyside graphics, interior console lid, scuff plates and upper steering wheel.
