On July 22nd, I drove my 2000 XLT Supercab to work at 9am, and at 11am I was informed that my truck was on fire in the parking lot! She burned down via the cruise control relay (check out the pics HERE)
I replaced her with a 1997 F150 2WD Lariat. Great truck, low miles and from California so she's not all rusty like we're used to in Western New York (HERE'S a pic of her.)
The first thing I did was check the vin for unresponded recalls! :)

That's quite a movie

I bought my truck when it was four years old... It was a lease return that was picked up by an independent dealer. Despite being the third owner, Ford somehow found me and sent me the recall notice. I got it done....

Out of interest, about six years ago, I backed into a pole and dinged my back bumper.. I bought another bumper from a wrecker and replaced it... The truck that the bumper came off was burned out just like yours was.

That's rough. Vicious fire- I haven't seen one from the cruise control cause so much damage. At least no one was hurt I suppose. Poor truck.

I have to give props to MetLife Insurance. They did a great job and paid me a fair replacement cost.
I ended up selling a motorcycle I built over the winter and with the insurance money I initially bought this 2003 F250 Superduty. I think my testosterone got the better of me and after a month and a half of 11 miles a gallon I sold it.
I like the '97. Normally a twelve year old truck would be out of the question but this one is really clean and the last owner kept all his service records. You're right, everything turned out peachy.
