I am in the process of getting my truck fixed at the dealer now. It would not start, and all lead to the fuel pump. I spent almost $400 on a fuel pump and a couple hours putting it in (I'm lucky that my tank was only an 1/8 full). Truck does not start. Have it towed in to one place, couldn't find whats wrong, than had it towed to dealer. Just got a call and its the Fuel Pump Driver Module. So if any of you have this same problem, check the module first. It up by the spare tire. This could save you a lot of troubles and some money.

I had the same issue this weekend. Truck died on me and after sitting for a couple of minutes it fired right up but died again a few minutes later.

Had it towed home and would not start again. After searching the "net" I seen this issue a few times and thought I better start out there and sure enough the FPDM is a mess. All coruded and split in half. If that is not bad enough there is a hole in the back the size of a penny.

Better that then a fuel pump, the FPDM is $100, a fuel pump is $500

Same problem w/ my 04 5.4. First time this happened was a couple months ago. It would not start, fuel pump not running when you turn the ignition to the on position. Had it towed in, 2 days later technician went to work on it and it started right up and it showed no bad codes. Now return to present day (12-14-08). Same thing happened so I started looking into it myself Sunday afternoon (missed the Steelers game). Dropped the spare tire and there it was, the fuel pump driver module. The bottom portion of the housing looks like it is aluminum and it was cracked. After looking at it closer I could see where it had expanded out the back side and pushed against the cross member that it was bolted to. Lastly I got my nose up close to it and it smelled electrically burnt. So now it sits at the local ford garage until they get the new part. This would have been an easy fix if I had the time to do it myself.

I guess the real question is why did this happen to the FPDM?

Thanks lobo2mil4. As per your PM, I used your photos and put together an article on exactly this problem:

I have a 2008 F150 with 6,000 miles on it. I made a 150 mile trip and when I shut the truck off I couldn't get it started again. All the power was on but it wouldn't even make a click when I turned the key. After trying it a couple hundred times and flipping the key over, it started again. I have been getting it started by swapping out between my 2 keys but I think I am just getting lucky. I took it into a dealer and they actually witnessed the issue but have no answer. They are going to swap out my fuse box???? It sounds like either an igition swith or security system problem to me. Does anyone have a solution to this problem or had the same one?

Same boat as others it seems. Truck sat for two months and now will not start. Cranks until battery is dead. It is like it is not getting gas. Impact switch and fuses have been checked. 3/4 fuel in tank. Factory alarm resets ok. Fuel pump, Pump relay ??? help!

well have you tried starter fluid?
do you engine light on?
probably what you have is the safety switch activated on your fuel system.
just reset it and will work fine,
is on the passenger side panel just below the glove compartment, search for it and you'll know how easy is to fix it.im not sure if is there some model has it on the driver side some on passenger side, just google it.
easy fix
Locate and remove the fuse cover on the passenger side kick panel, the fuel reset switch is located in front of it with a red rubber top as seen here

I have a simular problem, with no code lights. My no start is just a hard to start. It just sits there and keeps turning over. Then it finally starts. The problem is intermitant.

that's exactly how mine started with the problem, but have you change the fuel filter?
you probably have a dirty fuel filter, try that sounds just like it,
the fpdm usually fails when moisture gets into it,cause it is an electronic device, when it rust usually moisture start pouring into it and that's what causes the problem,
what you have is probably a dirty fuel filter, change the filter and add a fuel treatment bottle
mine sterted with this problem but sometimes it work some times it didnt, but i pin pointed that only when was wet did nt work. and had no codes at first,do the fuel filter first,
