I was driving the truck today and the drivers side window was all the way up when it just fell down. I brought the truck home took off the door panel and the motor is still working but the window is all the way down in the door. Any ideas? Is the gear assemble part of the window motor? If so how hard is it to get the motor out of the door? Another window issue that I am having is the back power slider, it only opens 1/4 of the way.
Any help with either problem would be most appreciated.

There were numerous threads associated with this issue. There is also a link where someone posted a replacement part for the electric power window regulator assembly.
I have the same problem with my rear sliding window, taking it to the dealer to have it looked at, warranty covers that problem for my truck. I was told by the service rep. that ford has a problem with the motor getting hot and shutting down.
Luckily I haven't experienced any problems with my power windows in my truck yet. Make sure you call the vendor to get information about merchandise returns, and warranty info and restocking fees.
you can get a new window regulator but i can say from experience putting the motor on it is a real pita its easy but you have to take the door apart it is most likely a cable or pully problem
There is a product defect with power window regulator on all 2004-2008 F150 trucks. After my 2002 Expedition caught fire in my driveway and burned my home 2 months (a year AFTER recall cruise control deactivation harness work), this is really icing on the proverbial F-O-R-D Cake. Ford knows they have problems and refuse to address them. There have been literally HUNDREDS of window regulator issues across the country and we, as owners of Ford products, are being victimized. After the burned carcass of our Expedition was hauled away, we replaced it with a 2003 Toyota Sequoia. Very easy to see why Toyota, and all imports, are ruining US car makers. The level of quality and attention to detail is miles above that of any US automaker. What we need to do as consumers is stop buying American-engineerd cars- PERIOD! That is our right, and that is our power. Besides, there's nothing more American about a Ford or GM than there is a Toyota or Nissan in today's corporate structure. This window thing is a serious safety problem and expensive to fix. Check out all the forums. There are hundreds of these cases and we are helpless against a large company going under because they don't care about the consumer. Thankfully, my repair will only cost me around $300 parts and labor as my window wasn't damaged. Only $300...

I had the same thing happen to my 2004 f-150 driver side window. I tore into the door and took the whole assembly apart and found that the takeup reel that the cables have become fraid and will not follow the takeup reel and basically becomes a bird nest like a fishing reel. The whole assembly from ford is $173.00 and it is easy to replace, comes with motor and all, 5 bolts total plus 2 to loosen and release the glass from the cups attached to the rods on each side.
my 05 150's cable went off the track and i had to replace the whole regulator... it wasnt that bad to replace and the part cost me 150... not too bad. i guess the window could have slipped out of the holder things... idk what they are called but that sounds unlikely. the regulator is relatively easy to put on though. if the window is all the way down, you will have to lift the window up in order to take the fasteners off of the window so that way you can take out the regulator... Hanes auto manual does a great job of explaining that... NOT. but anyway have fun.. they are a lot easier to put on the the chevy suburban i had to do a couple of years ago
