I have a 2001 F150 Supercrew. Recently all of my gauges go to the max, then to the beginning, and finally settle where they should. Does this mean my battery is going bad or is this a normal event? I have had the truck for about 2 years and have never seen it do that until yesterday.

Thanks for your help

It doesn't mean your battery is bad. There has been some other discussion of this kind of thing on this forum recently. I think the issue was the way the panel was grounding. --Someone else will most likely give you a post on it.

I have a 2001 F-150 supercrew lariat 4x4 and my gauges have also done something similar, the speedometer and tach peg, and all the lights on the instrument cluster light up including all the digits on the odometer. Then after @30 sec all returns to normal.....

The same was happening to my '99. The alternator died very soon after. I would get it checked.

Yeah I just changed my alternator two days ago. It started doing it a day or so before I changed the alternator.

Did it stop after you changed the alternator?

Well then I would have my battery tested. If it is the origional battery or if you havent replaced it since you've gotten the truck, chances are it is bad.
