Is it happening all the time? It shouldn't be. My guages did that once after I disconnected and reconnected the battery.
If it is happening all the time, check the battery and associated wires for a loose connection. If that's OK, then check the condition of the battery. This could be an early warning sign of a failing battery.
Do any of the warning lamps stay on (check engine, battery, etc)?

No warning lights stay on. I kind of thought it might be an early warning sign of a dying battery because it has been starting slower on cold mornings. Thanks for the reply.

hmmmm... i have a BRAND NEW 04 heritage and i just noticed that it does this every once in a while.
the only reason i notice it is because the speedometer swings from 0 to 120 REALLY quick.... then returns to zero.
my truck is going in for rear end service monday... i guess i should tell them about this??
