I have had my truck in twice now becuase the steering wheel has a noticable shale at 70mph. You can take your hands off the wheel and watch the steering wheel move back and forth. For some reason today they said the rotors were warped and turned them which makes no sense to me since it doesnt occur at braking. I had thought I had read somewhere on this board there is a TSB about the rack and pinions in these trucks. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
Rex

It has always been my experience that a vibration felt while driving at highway speeds (about 70 M.P.H.), is usually tire related. You might try having all 4 of the tires balanced if you have not already. Also, look for signs of cupping on the edges of the tires as this can also cause tire vibration. If the tires are cupping, there's usually not too much you can do about it once that wear pattern starts. Also, if the vibration is only in the steering wheel, it is usually from the front tires. If the vibration is felt in the seat, the vibration is usually from the rear tires.

I had the exact same problem.. slight shake from 70-75 MPH. I had all four tires rotated and rebalanced, as well as an alignment---my problem is gone! If you have the OEM General Tires, my experience and understanding is that these tires suck anyway at highway speeds.

try 1st having your dealer road force balance all 4 tires

the shimmy damper helps too.... even if it only hides the problem

i had my rack updated to the newer version (it has a green dot by the barcode)

WE have the same problem at about 55 mph. We bought the truck 3 weeks ago and it has been in the shop for about 2/12 weeks. They aligned the front end, changed the tires and told us yesterday this is common with this truck because the frame is so heavy. They are putting a dampener? on it today to help with the shake. I am totally disgusted with the service department. When I told them this was unacceptable they told me it is the best they can do. They said drive it and maybe it will straighten itself out!

I have the same problem. I am going to address. While test driving my new truck I got a flat and htey had to stick a spare and when they did they put a Michelin on and now I ahve 3 continentals and 1 Michelin. I thought that may be the problem, but hte Michelin is on the rear. Sounds like there may be somehting else. I am so pissed at Sarasota Ford for this truck and they way they have handled a few issues I have gone to my local TV consumer lawyer.
