i dont think it actually means anything in paritcular. just a sporty model name. it has been around for quite a while though, i know a guy with an '86 ranger stx 4x4.

i talked to a guy today at work whohas the exact stx as mine,same everything who has always drove them ,he said it was the bed style ,but hell i dont know and neither does the dealer,i preciate the help.

Has nothing to do with the bed style, STX's are available in both the styleside and flareside.
