Anyone out there had any success installing 35x12.5x17 rubber on a 2003 F150 SuperCrew 4x4 with a ProComp 4" lift ? Some have told me that this lift will only accomodate a 33x12.5x17 tire. A 33" tire is usually about 32.5" high, while my stock 265/70R17s are 31.6" high. I don't want to go to the trouble and expense of a lift kit for a gain of less than 1" in tire height. Any advice out there ?

Also, I've seen plenty of "leveling kits" on the internet but I can't find any of them that are made for a 2003 model, usually only 2004. Anyone aware of a manufacturer of a 1.5" leveling kit for a 2003 F150 SuperCrew 4X4 ? I was hoping that this might allow the use of 33x12.5x17 tires without the expense of a full lift kit.

I have a 2000 F150 with a 6 inch lift and 35x12.50x16.5 BFG mud terrains. They just barely fit and rub just a little in a full lock turn with a small bump.

trust me the 35's will fit witht the 4" lift, i have a 3" lift and i will be putting 35s on, there are more than a couple of member here with the 3" lift and 35's. at the most you will have to trim the front valance a little, i am sure someone else will back me on this so stick around

on a 2003 the leveling kit is already there. just needs to be adjusted. torsion bar suspension is adjustable, just get under the truck just behind the driver's door and you will see a rail across the truck with two big bars bolted to it. there is a bolt for each side that faces down. just turn the bolts clockwise untill you reach your desired height.

Thanks for the tip on the torsion bar adjustment. Assuming you can raise the front end about 1.5", do you think 33x12.5x17 rubber will fit ? These 33's are only about an inch taller than my stock tires (265/70R17).

everyone seems to get a different amount of lift out of their torsion bars. i got about an inch and a half out of mine. Firezapper says he got 3 inches out of his, it probably depends on the year of the truck.
the 33's probably will fit but the tire is much wider than stock so im not sure.

Pro-Comp lists that kit as 35x12.50 tire, 8-10" rim, max backspace of 4.5"

I contacted ProComp Tech support about this...I was told that with the 4" Lift Kit, only 33"ers can be run...they said 35" was a typo. I suspected this might be the case because for their 6" Lift Kit, they also list 35"ers as the maximum tire size.

I bet your truck is also 2wd.

They will fit on there.

Hey man trust me they will fit. Check out my ride in my gallery. That is a Rancho lift with 35x12.5 its a 98 but that shouldn't matter. The only rubbling is due to crappy back spacing and some stupid nipple that sticks out on the lower a frame. There is though about and inch taken off the corner of the valance and off the inside of the factory running boards. back to the whole torsion thing has anyone ever heard of torsion keys that give you about a 3" lift?

It is called re-indexing the torsion bars. The spot where the bolt touches is just a little different then the stock.
Image
This one is for a chevy but the same concept is for ford. This one uses different inserts to change the tension on the bars. The teeth and the flatspots(bar ends) will be a litte different depending on the amount of lift or drop you want. On the ones for ford the flatspots (barends) will be a couple degrees different then stock.

thanx firezapper, but with this device you can crank up more height right? so that would make you ride stiffer. how much height can you expect out of these and what would the price of them be
