Ford F150 - blocker heater for my 91

No cord hiding anywhere. If the cord has been removed, where would the block heater be found on the block? Any pics?

If I don't have one, I'll be looking to install one. Anyone have experience doing this? Would you recommend a traditional block heater than installs in a freeze plug (where would that be?) or one of thos tank heaters than installs inline on the rad/heater hose?

You probably don't have one. AFAIK, they weren't offered until ~'93.

It looks like an exact replacement for the one in my photo, so it would go in that spot. Looks easy to install: drain, rip out a freeze plug, hammer that in, refill. If you pinch off the lower radiator hose & the heater hoses, you won't lose as much coolant.

How in the world do you find a truck in Alaska without
a block heater

It must have been sold in the south to begin with.

JWT - Truck isn't from Alaska as it was shipped up here by someone in the military..not sure where it came from.

Steve- Got it. Any tips on removing the freeze plug? Does it just get knocked into the block?

To remove a frost plug knock one side into the block which will pop the other side out towards you. Grab that with a pair of pliers and pull it out. I would not want it left in the block.
