Hi everyone,

I am new to the forums, and would like to ask my first question.

I have found a good deal on wrecked 04 lariat supercrew, that has some front end damage.

Has anyone rebuilt a salvage truck, and do you have any advice if you have?

Thanks in Advance.

Is it a Heritage (old body) or new?

My truck is probably 95% junkyard, but I did it over MANY years. I swapped the whole body when I rolled it.

I've also built a few other trucks.

I'd say the most important factors are a) having enough money to do it right & b) knowing what you're getting into. If you know you can find good replacement parts at good prices, and you have the time/space/tools/patience/budget to work thru whatever you find, then go for it. If the junker's title hasn't been tagged as salvage, then you might even come out ahead on the deal.

But you should know that there are a LOT of electronics in an 04; some that store wreck info, and some that won't work at all after a wreck, so they MUST be replaced & then reprogrammed by a dealer.

salvage title trucks in nj must be reinspected and you must have records and receipts such as serial numbers of vehicles that replacement parts came from or receipts for all new parts and photos of the truck before and after repairs. it is a long drawn out process i would only do it if it were a clear title and stay away from salvage titles

It is the new body style. I want one of these new new supercrews badly, I just dont want a $450 payment.

I have checked into salvage vehicles and titles, and that is about the same here in Indiana as what is required in NJ.

From what I can tell it needs about $2000 in new parts for the front end, thats including bags and a new windshield. And if I can get the truck for around $7500, and add an extra $3000 for the budget, just in case. I figured it would be a good deal.

By the way, like the Bronco, I have an '88.
