Went out to run an errand tonight and had a big oil spot below the left rear shock and differential. There was fluid under the entire left half of the rear axle and on the shock and on the differential. It was parked in the street so it could've possibly come from the shock and then flowed down the pavement due to the crown of the road. I've never had a shock leak before but from the location of the spot it makes the most since that is where it came from.
But that doesn't explain the drop of fluid on the differential. I guess it is possible they are both leaking. Problem is, I've got a big day tomorrow and need the truck but don't want to cause any damage.

i have had a leaky oil seals on my dif on a 94 ram for almost 1 year now, soon i will fix it. the dif takes about 4 litres, when you go to empty it out and reseal the cover, good idea to replace the axle seals while you are almost there$9.00 is worth it.

Took it to the shop today and it turns out they were both leaking. The differential cover has enough rust that it has started to develop some pin holes in it.
