If you have sync, and don't use it, you don't know what you are missing. It only requires the following:
*know how to read (obviously you can do that) *have a computer (got that too) *SYNC *cell phone with bluetooth *likes lots of different music
Anyone not familiar with bluetooth and cell phones (as I was at first, and obviously my father), MAKE YOUR DEALER SYNC YOUR PHONE. And they better do it for free.
For people that already download music, this will be easy. For those that don't already download music, try to learn. You will love it. Its free.
No more holding your cell phones. Dialing off the key pad on the radio to dial numbers. Never miss a call when the radio is turned up or the sunroof and all the windows are open. Always have my music with me since its on the phone. Get into a friends car, play music off my cell phone(if they let you). CD quality music.
So, if you hav sync, use it. It will only enhance your driving experience. If your father or mother has it, show them how to use it. I got my mother and father hooked to SAT radio(although he only listens to talk channels; cant help that though) and SYNC. They are both 60 plus. I just had to hook up a wireless bluetooth ear piece for my mom. Couldn't believe, she went and bought it on her own. Changing with the times.
I'm glad my 2010 Ford F-150 Platinum has SYNC. Do you use your SYNC? Just for your phone, or music too?

I use it, but I don't think it works all that great. On mine the volume on the phone is too low. I can turn it all the way up on the radio and have the volume on my phone all the way up and I can still barely hear the person I'm on the phone with. But on my wifes 2010 fusion it's the opposite...it's super loud. I use it with my ipod and I don't like the way it categorizes the music. Like when it plays an album it plays it in alphabetical order instead of the order of the cd.

Its probably your phone. Mine works great. Its unfortunate your having a problem. Try your wifes phone in yours and see if it works any better.

Have you tried adjusting the phone volume while you are in a call? The iphone will change to 'bluetooth volume' when you are in a call. Call your voicemail, and while it is ringing, adjust the volume with the hard button on your phone.
I'm having a problem with my TMobile G1 and SYNC. Everytime my phone connects to SYNC, it turns on the media player on the phone. I've looked all over and have yet to find an answer as to why this is doing it, if it's SYNC or android that is causing this.

Then we must have the same phone (Blackberry Curve) because mine is the same way. The phone pickup and hangup button on mine are POS in my opinion since they very rarely work properly if they don't just hangup the call when I hit the answer. I have to use my phone for answering and ending calls...I think the voice recognition could use an improvement as it usually dials the wrong number or plays the wrong song however it is a lot better when I'm not moving but that kinda defeats the purpose of handfree does it not? Like I said in another thread it was neat at first but once the novelty wears off it's kinda pointless. You get bluetooth hands free in pretty much every vehicle now and I can hook up my ipod or phone for music with a regular audio jack. Yes, SYNC has way more features but I don't need them. The only way my next truck will have it is if it's included no charge.
SYNC was not terrible, but it wasn't the best thing with sliced bread either. With all the hype, I was expecting SYNC to have a voice recognition technology that was much more accurate than it actually is. I have the I-phone 3Gs and had the same volume issue as sixsix. I didnt pay for my SYNC and I am certainly glad about that! SYNC is a great improvement on what was out, and I would agree that is its the best thing that I have seen so far; I just think technology has a long way to go in the voice recognition department. After 3 weeks of use, I began planning ways to upgrade the audio/tools in my truck and SYNC was one of the targets. The only thing I dont have now in my truck is the voice command stuff and it is not missed.....

it also turns my media player on on my lg env
Does the same to my BB Storm, drives me crazy, but I found a way to stop it...under bluetooth options disable the A/V Remote Control options if your phone has them. Other than that, Sync works great for me and works great with my zune.

I have a Blackberry Tour & have found the volume on call pickup is better than it was on my previous phone -the Blackberry Curve. With that said, those of you who have the Curve, don't rush out & replace it with the Tour because this seems to be the only thing that's improved. I still can't get texts through the Sync system & I find that I still have to basically shout for the person I'm talking to to be able to hear & clearly understand me. Also, one more control button on the wheel would have been a good idea -for 'On/Off' & 'Mute'.
For hands free talking, it is the only way to fly but that feature is nothing new.
Vehicle health report is nothing new
911 assist is nothing new
Bluetooth streaming audio from phone or other audio device is nothing new
But, Ford Sync does it all, service is free, works better than any system out there. It is a must have for me. I drive like s**t when talking on the phone so I rarely talked on it before, now I will unless traffic is nuts. I did the 2nd USB mod and having all my music and playlists loaded. With Sync command say, "Search Playlists" while in USB mode. It will bring them all up from the flash drive and you simply select which one you play.
Also, you can have Sync play your music in Random mode (not alphabetical) - that is in your Media settings. If you want to play your music in a certain order, then simply add a numerical sequence at the beginning of the file-name. Pain yes, but so does most other music players out there.
For a fee, you can add traffic/weather/direction/etc. services.
Is it perfect nope, but for the feature cost, Ford hit a home run as far as I'm concerned and so was SEMA
