Ford F150 - Will 5.4 Lightning alternator work on reg. 5.4L

I was wondering if all the alternators will bolt up the same to all 5.4L's up to 04 of course.... I know that the lighting alt is 115-120 amps and the 5.4L excursion is 130 amps, i was looking to swap out to help support my stereo system, let me know if anyone has done this swap out.

Pulling to much juice huh, I have the same problem at night my lights dim when the bass hits lol. Thinking of getting one of those Optima yellow top battery's.

yes same problem, but i have a 1.5 farad cap and its still doing it, so I figure that the alt/batt combo is the problem.

A cap is only going to help for the surges like bass hits, but if they come too frequently - forget it. Also, where is it installed? Across the power lines of the amp?

130 A is a lot, I'd also look into the size wire that you're running. If it's too small a guage, the resistance will cause a significant voltage drop.

Also consider an aftermarket high output alternator. I'm going to dump mine eventually, which I believe is 140 amp, for at least a 200 amp and a big honkin' battery. But yes, the wiring could also be a problem. How many watts is your system, how many amps, and what size power and ground wires do you have?

well the main gauge coming in is like 4 gauge, im running 2 cvr kicker 10's and have the 1.5 farad cap and a 600.2 kicker amp. the wires do not interfer with each other and i dont think the other wiring is to small, its about 6-8 gauge on the subs

600 or 1200 watt total? If it's 600, it should be fine. If it's 1200, it should still be okay provided it's the only amp. The wiring on the subs is fine. It could be that the amp is working too hard and draining the battery too fast. Hate to keep asking questions, but what are the amps rated for? It might be possible it's too small.

yeah the amp is 600.2 so 300 rms each, and thats what the subs are rated for, the stereo shop said everything is ok on that end...so it has to be either the battery (which is a walmart brand that came in it) or the alt, the battery is showing constant 12v+ so its charged and strong I just wonder if the alt just cant support my, stereo, indiglo gauges, dual e-fans, fog lamps, and trans gauge all at the same time at night when the oem lights are on as well....i didnt have this problem until i just upgraded to the bettr subs, thats when it all started to happen.

I would tell you to trash the wallieworld battery for a real one, i've had nothing but trouble with them. But I hate walmart anyway, so take it how you want it.

I don't know if it would fix anything, but it might be cheaper to add a dual battery isolator. I'm putting a 200 amp in the 250 to run the winch off of. What they do is charge both batteries, and let the aux discharge without touching the battery the truck runs off of. Just something to think about.

its not a bumper cover, its the harley front end.... got the lower valance on ebay and bought the grille from work.
