Hi Guys

I have a question.

The battery is dead in my Montana. Can I use the marine battery for the winter since I wont be needing it in the boat?

The battery in the boat is new, 500 cold cranking amps and 625 normal amps.

Thanks

That may be a little low for cranking you motor, esp figuring that the lower the temp the harder for current to travel. It shouldn't hurt anthing until it gets cold.

I run the optima D34M deep cycle marine batt in my F250 and it's done a good job for the last 3 years.

Its on the small side for a marine battery but I have used one for about a month with no problems for the main battery and I use my marine battery as the second battery in my truck just to keep it charged and in use..

That is hard on deep cycle batteries.
They are made to discharge almost dead and then slowly recharge.
The batteries for an automobile are made to have a huge current draw (startup) and then a rapid recharge (alternator when running).
I think you will find the deep cycle batteries going bad if you run them in an automobile very long.
