i put a holley 190lph fuel pump in my truck today mainly because it was alot cheaper than a stock fuel pump.

holley doesn't make a fuel pump for the f150 but they do make one for the mustang of the same which ended up fitting almost perfectly.

$565 for an 88lph pump from the ford dealer
$140 for a 190lph holley pump from a local parts dealer.

now that i've driven the truck i noticed that the top end woke up a little. the stock fuel pump was causing a jerking when up shifting at 5000rpm which felt like a transmission problem. i'm guessing the pump wasn't able to keep up and caused the fuel pressure to drop at high rpm's and take a second or two to catch up after dropping into the higher gear which caused the jerking sensation and a slight ping from leaning out. this is all cured now.

When you say fit almost perfectly..what do you mean? Did you have to do some modifications to pump or tank?

the inlet on the bottom of the original pump is about 1/5 of the size of the holley pump so the bracket that holds the pump in the tank needed to be trimmed slightly for the pump to fit in the bracket. tin snips and about 10 seconds of work.

the pump even plugged right into the original harness.

Thats good to know. I'll keep that in mind because I think one of my pumps might be going bad.
