| Post subject: | Help with power window |
I have a 1997 F-150 supercab and my driver's side power window won't roll down. I've taken off the door panel and examined all of the connections, which seem to all be in place. When I press the button i hear the click that comes by the parking brake. I've taken a look at some of the old forums but i couldn't find any solid reason on what was causing the problem. Any idea on what else to do or what the problem is? thanks |

take a test light, and check for power at the window motor connector. dissconnect the motor, turn the key to the on position and press the up button on the control... check both terminals... one should have power, one should not. when you push down on the control, the other should have power and the one that had power in the up will not. another thing to try if the motor is suspected, get a battery and connect direct voltage to the motor... it should move if the motors good. |

have a similar problem. I rolled down the passenger side window using the drivers side switch. went to roll up window and it would not roll up. tried drivers side and passengers side switches. no luck. removed door panel and jumpered directly from battery the window motor and got it to go up. any suggestions? i think it might be a loose wire in the drivers side switch. or could be a relay i guess. |

There are no relays. Your PW circuit is very similar to the L side of this diagram. Even the wire colors should be close. |

How much do you think it would cost to have this thing fixed at an auto repair shop |

Depends on the shop, what they find, & how honest they are. Could be $20; could be $500. |

97 F-150 supercab XLT My problems started this weekend. 1. the drivers side window wouldn't roll down, but the passenger side would using the driver side switch. 2. now neither window will roll down using either switch. The driver's side or the passenger side. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, |

That wiring diagram shows how it works. If you can't read it & do electrical diagnosis, you should pay a pro this time. It'll probably be cheaper that throwing parts at it. But I'd suspect the driver's window switch first. |

I have a 1998 f150 and my power windows are taking turns not working. Sometimes neither will work then one may work for awhile then the other will work for awhile. When they work they work fine but there's this intermittant thing going on. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

Help please! My Dads 99 F-150 driver side window stopped working. I checked the 15a fuse under the dash it's OK. You can hear the relay click when the button is depressed. Do I need to remove the door panel and access the motor to investigate further or is there another fuse inline that I've missed? ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated! |
