Hello all of my Fellow Ranger Enthusiasts!

The time is near to bring fear to all other street racers and ricers. My baby is about to evolve to the ultimate sleeper. After reading some articles and having a dream of doing a V8 engine swap on my 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 SuperCab short box, Ive come up with a setup for my truck. I will start off by saying that the setup im looking at is roughly 525hp and 550Tq.

The engine:
351w Bored/Stroked to 418 putting out 525hp dyno tested

I will have to get rid of the trans that I have now, no fear, I plan on keeping the Trans/T-Case and engine if I hand the truck over to my yet to be born son...so he doesnt kill himself with the power ya know?...

The Transmission:
Looking at the Tremec T56 TUET1260 OR
Richmond 5 Sp Super Street rated at 600 Lb/Ft Tq

I would like to make sure my trans will handle the tq from the engine and yet have some room if I decided to do some more engine mods....

What Im looking for to satisfy my need for hp/tq is a setup that will pull like a gorilla on speed, never the less let the truck be streetable in return.

Please any kind of critisim is accepted, also let me know what you would do differently.

Thanks guys! I look forward to hearing from you!

Justin

Well Justin if a cool sleeper that is streetable is what your after your plans seem a touch to agressive. With all that power and all that weight up front you would have to be running a slick out back and possibly front to hook up. Im hoping that you have a 4.0l in that truck. Build it up. A turbo 4.0l Ranger would be putting down some serious numbers. STS Turbo systems makes a kit for you. Would be cheaper and easier + would hand out beat downs all day long. Check it out and give it some thought. http://ststurbo.com/universal_turbo_systems

Yes, King Handy, I do have the 4.0L V6 Cologne Block, I was thinking about this lastnight while lying in bed, Im taking this into perspective that with all that HP and TQ and if I get on the throttle hard off the line I would run into Chassis twist....Im going to look into the STS Turbo system. Thanks for your reply Sir, I greatly appreciate it!

Not a problem King Handy! I have big dreams when it comes to cars/trucks but a tight budget. Im going to forego the mod and save my pennies for my dream truck, id like to find a '96-97 F250/350 regular cab 4wd short box with the 7.3idi Powerstroke, do some mods to it and let that be my toy and keep the ranger seeing how its too darn reliable for my daily grind... I will keep ya posted and thanks for the input!

Have a great weekend and keep that ford a rollin!
