I bought an 04 with the 5.4. It has a flowmaster exhuast with dual tips coming out the back. I don't want those tips, I don't want to be able to see the pipes, like "turndowns". What will happen if I just cut off the pipes after leaving the exhaust? Louder lower? Will it effect performance? Anything?
Thanks!!

will be a little louder as the sound will bounce off the ground and then back up onto the truck. sorta like an echo.

I will get slightly louder, partly because you will be closer to the sound. Don't forget that if you go with turn-down type, it will blow dust up if you park in a dry environment.

If you do it I would go with turn downs though to direct the exhaust away from the cab a bit. I had a mustang 5.0 with turndowns right of 2 original 2 chamber flows and it echoed off the ground and was deep and loud. It was great though definately worth as loud as it was.
