When I got my door repaired after someone backed into it the guy who owns a local body shop here said that the doors really have a problem at the lower part where the skin folds over the door panel. He showed me what he uses to prevent it and it was a spray type substance that comes out like WD40 but not as runny, then it dries into a waxy substance. It literally feels like candle wax. Anyways this is supposed to keep rust from forming by keeping water out of little grooves. I will try to find out what it is called and get back.

Sounds just like AMSOIL's HD Metal Protector.

Dries to a wax like lube.

I bet it's a similar product.

Personally, I'd POR-15 it. Something I've been meaning to do to mine for a while now.

Will POR-15 stop existing rust?

Yes POR-15 stop rust formation where you use it, but it does not eliminate it. Youll need a rust convertor or sand it then seal it for that.

A rust convertor kills the rust itself so it can't spread anymore. It actually neutralizes the rust and then it turns it black and seals the original metal. I used a product by Jasco but you can go to interstateproducts.com and they have info on it too.
