I have a '97 F150 with the automatic. When its cold outside it goes through 1st and 2nd just fine but when shifting into drive it shifts but when i give it more gas it just revs up and doesn't go any faster until it is warm and it finally drops some rpms and does fine. When the engine is warm it will does it twice between 2nd and drive. I have changed the fluid and filter. I also have a B&M Shift Plus in it. I was wondering if this was normal with fords and is there a problem being created in my tranny.

mine has always taken a little longer to shift when it's cold but when it finally does make it into o/d it's fine after that.

i've heard that those electronic shift improver things cause alot of problems for people.

try driving it without the shift plus.

This is a normal condition, when cold your pcm hesistates to apply the torque converter clutch because of cold fluid and engine temp. once it reaches a specific engine temperature you should notice fine shifts again... D, and OD would be affected during cold driving. you may also notice during cold driving sooner 1-2 shifts this is the pcm compensating for cold, thicker trans fluid

But it still does it when its warm outside and the truck is warm. I didn't know if the 305's with the factory 3.55 rearend was helping it any either.
