Im looking to put a Fabtech 6" Performance lift on a 2008 F-150 FX4. Just wanted to get some opinions and was wondering if anyone knew if fabtech offered add a leafs instead of blocks for the rear. Ive heard adding leaves gives a better ride but correct me if im wrong. Should I pay the extra money for the Coilover setup.. or is that overrated? How much is the average install of a suspension lift? Ive got a 17x9 XD wheels now and was gonna go with 35x12.50 BFG's. Is 9" wide wheel to wide?

There are or were only two companys that make the add-a-leaf for our trucks (neither is Fabtech). One is a bit shorter in length and price, I have that one. Adding a leaf does not improve ride, it makes it stiffer and adds hight.
I'm not sure what ...are you confusing the rear with leaf springs and the front which does not use leaf springs? I have coil overs in the front of mine.
I have 17/x10 Weld Racing wheels with 37x13.5x17's. I would prefer 17x12 myself but for 35's 17x10 is max.
thanks man, no i know the front has coilovers but fabtech makes a coilover that is adjustable and alot more money instead of puting the spacer on the stock spring. with the rear i just thought add a leafs was a better setup than a 4" block holding up your leaf springs. what lift do you have on yours? you gotta have atleast 7 or 8 inches of total lift for 37s

If you originally had a coilover setup you would idealy want to retain that setup, instead of downgrade. If not, the upgrade cost ...well either way it's an optional upgrade cost.
You will still have to replace the blocks with the ones in the kit. The coilovers allow you to raise and lower the front to you liking. For whatever reason everyone cranks up the front and leaves the rear looking too low (ooposite of factory stance). It does not look good and makes it difficult to see and judge the cars bumper in front of you and if you to hit someone you are more then likely to drive over them.
If you do not get the optional coilover you can level the truck with rear addaleafs. Also it helps with 37's but ideally you want 8" clearance. I have approximately 7" and had to trim the front fenders.
You can get a custom leaf pack instead of adding a bigger block but they are expensive.
Wheels, I think 18's are just right but 20's do look nice for a street queen. There are more tire choices in 18 then 17 and are readily available. 20's do look nice and would work for mud and snow but if you want to do rock climbing or speed off road then the bigger tire side wall from the 18's would be better.

congrats on deciding to lift your truck! I have a 2006 with a Fabtech 6" lift and I am 100% satisfied I kept the coilover set up in the front with the Dirt logic shocks and out back I went with the Robby Gordon sig series Pro comp shocks. I know you can go with Deaver springs and ditch the blocks if you wanted but if you want the stock ride go with the blocks I have plenty of pics give my gallery a look and ask away buddy!
