Wow. Anyway.
I don't know if this is your problem, but.
My antenna would whine at interstate speeds when I first bought it. Got some pliers and tightened it. Still comes loose sometimes.

Maybe I should use loc-tite on the threads? Or bad idea?

If you go through car washes, they will often take them off, and they don't tighten them when they put them back on. I know I always have to tighten mine up afterwards. Just hand tighten it, and check it now and then, or they will use tools on it, and I don't want car wash guys NEAR my truck with tools... just a thought. Bear

Has it really come to this? Someone really needs to know how to tighten an antenna? Really? My chuahuaha can accomplish this. Buy a power antenna and you won`t have to worry about it. Press a button and presto, it magicaly disappears.

Ok then, Why won`t a power antenna fit? I`ve got 1 on my boat and its very accessable and the staff isn`t long. Not to mention they come in various sizes.

In the boat, you open hatch and install in gunwhale or put into the console on starboard or on the pass. port side, lots of room and clearance. If you ever had the fender off the F150 you will see no clearance for even a shorty electric, too many curves and fender lines.

While on the subject, and having fun, I will add this -- I never use a carwash that removes/re-installs my antenna because the more the attendants remove it and put it back the more chance of stripping the threads.

You guys are correct, there`s not enough room in the fender well for a short I never paid attension before. But there would be if you invent 1 that the mechanics of it would be mounted side ways and a retractable staff operation up down.
