This is my first post, great website. I recently purchased my first F-150 ( 2005 4 door )I had a Ranger before. My first question is which is the best tonneau cover for this truck, with out braking the bank ). My second question is, I have noticed when I shift from park into gear ( regardless of drive or reverse ), the truck lurches forward or backwards when the gears engage. If I press very hard on the brake, it does not do that. do my brakes need to be adjusted or is it something with the tanny. All fluids are good.

What kind of tonneau? Hard-shell, ABS, or a soft cover? If you don't mind soft tonneaus the Extang Full-tilt is a nice one, many people here like them. I think they run $300 or less. That would be my personal choice.

I don't know about your second question... there will be others to help you out there.

I bet you're jack rabbit starting it.

Like you start it up and then immediately put it into gear? Wait until the idle falls a little.

But it's not hurting anything.

I got my soft tonneau cover for free from the dealership when I bought my 2004 F150 but I think the dealer told me it was about 300 or so dollars to buy one from them, and it was a Ford brand, which meant that it comes with the truck warranty. If anything tears or breaks they'll replace it for free! (Thats what they told me.) So I see you have a new truck with the warranty still and if I were you I would get the Ford brand at the dealership that way you can have the warranty with it. So ask the dealership about it.
