Ford F150 - ford ignition actuator wont fit

hi i broke the actuator on my ford f250 and have bought a new one to replace it when i try to slide it into the shaft it is to tight it seems to be to big ford assures me it is the right one please help just getting this far has been a pain in the neck :oops:

Not sure what an ignition actuator actually is???

The top of the column has to be totally disassembled to install that part, and it's a royal PITA.
