I have oil burning and smoking out of my exhaust and have changed the spark plug of a cylinder not firing...fixed it for about a week then the cylinder went out again. Took the plug out and it was drenched in oil. What could this be? Any help would be greatly appreciated since I am kind of on a low budget but would like to get this beast running good again. .....oh yea..truck is a 95 ford f150 ext cab 5.8 engine.

Please help..

It'd be a lot quicker & easier (and maybe even cheaper) to put in a good used engine or a reman long block.

I do NOT recommend Jasper remans.

mines doin that but what if u take the plug out of a certain cylinder ur pretty sure is missing and the plugs been in it for like a month and looks brand new..NO carbon. NO sign of even working much..somewhat a little grey on the tip just to show it has fired before...?

Steve, why not? I was seriously considering one to replace my tired old 351 with 245K miles.

I put one in an Isuzu, and it never ran right from day 1. Jasper told my shop to tear it down, so we did, and found the lifters were sticking - JASPER's fault. So they told us to pull it out & they'd send another. When we sent them the bill for diagnosing their screw-up and demanded they ALSO pay to remove the bad one & reinstall the replacement, they refused. So we told them to take the POS engine & return our core engine so we could get it rebuilt - they said they couldn't return ours, so we got stuck with a truck with no engine.

Then we ordered one for this Bronco & they sent the wrong one. We finally got the right one, and they had sent the wrong install kit. We finally got it put in, and after a couple of months, it started leaking from the F&R main seals. My shop refused to get into the same BS again, and referred the owner to a Jasper-authorized warranty shop. They charged the owner more than Jasper would reimburse, even though Jasper AGAIN admitted it was their own screw-up.

If you're gonna do it, make SURE you pay the extra for the Jasper extended warranty. AFTER the Bronco owner got screwed, Jasper mentioned that they DID offer a warranty that would have covered everything! They just didn't mention that up front!

Good info, Steve. Thanks.

I may just look for a first-rate local rebuilder.
