I bought a fipk intake, there is a hose that connects from the oil to my old intake, so i put it on my new intake, and now there is lots of oil at the bottom of the filter, anyone else do this?
Oil??????? Dude, I don't have a clue of what you are talking about. What year truck and motor size do you have. I have an 03 5.4 Screw and I did not have such a problem. What color is the oil? If it is reddish like the oil on the filter then maybe the filter was oiled to much before you bought it. If its motor oil color then that's a whole new problem.

Ok .. . .your post is confusing.
"there is a hose that connects from the oil to my old intake"
connects from the oil? What does that mean? There's no oil connection anywhere there.
If you have oil in the bottom of where your filter sits, it's wayyyyyy overoiled. The filter should have come preoiled, so I hope you didn't go and try to spray some more on there. If you did and the oil is just from the filter, go to the auto store, and by a K&N recharger kit, it's like. . 15 bucks. It has a cleaner for your filter, and then an aerosol can of filter oil. Follow the instructions VERY CAREFULLY and put your filter back in.

What year is the truck? I think I have an idea of what your talking about but if it's as old as I think it is then you should have bought a different type if filter. Either way, if there is oil on the filter, you will need a new one because motor oil will not come out of there.
Sorry it took so long for me to reply,
Its a 1992 5.0, i'm no mechanic here so bare with me, where i put my oil in, there is a hose that runs from there to my old intake. When i put on my new intake I put that hose on the K&N. I took it out and its black, its motor oil. Its in my new intake, soaked... i dont know why its doin this

I know exactally what your talking about. I think it's a vacuum hose that connects the intake to the engine for idling. Yeah, you should have not hooked that thing up and just gone with the replacement filter and you wouldn't have lost that money. The pipe can be cleaned but the filter is done, your going to need a new one. I would also suggest, if you want to keep it, that you get a new oil cap that doesn't have that hole in the top for the hose and hook it back up and see if it will idle.

if you have a k&n filter, it's still fine. don't throw it away.
that hose that comes off the valve cover is the crank case breather which should be using filtered air to get air in and out of the crank case. in the process some oil gets blown out due to being thin and some blow by from the valves.
the hose doesnt need vacuum. what i did on my dad's truck is get a piece of hose and a generic crank case breather filter and ran the hose under the truck with the filter clamped onto the end.

if you simply block that outlet from the valve cover you will blow seals and gaskets due to pressure. if your truck is blowing alot of oil out of that tube then the oil is either way too thin and hasnt been changed in a long time or you have bad valve seals which is causing compression from the combustion chamber to escape which pressurizes the valve cover causing the the oil to blow out of that tube and all over your filter. the air going in and out of that tube should be filtered.
some people do this instead of running to the air filter
but if you're blowing alot of oil out then the oil gets all over the engine and exhaust manifold. this is why on my dad's truck i ran a hose from the valve cover to the rear of the wheel well and clamped a filter to end of it. this way it can dump all the oil it wants and at the same time stay filtered.
does the truck blow smoke from the exhaust at all?

i see the pic. but the hose is right below (connected)to my oil (where i dump it in), so let me get this straight, from the hose connected to my filter, just ran that hose down below and put a filter on the hose. and close up the filter.
Yes it does blow smoke, my headgasket is blown and my cyclinder is warped. currently its just sittin but this problem has always bothered me.
well, I now know what that hose is for... I saw that on my friend's Bronco. Anywho, I think what he is saying, is to take the hose taht comes from the oil inlet and put on a generic filter on it. Someting that will thoroughly filter the air.. then route that hose to the bottom of the car, and clamp it down somewhere to keep it out of the way. Don't try ataching it to your K&N.
