Ford F150 - Which Transmission?

I am preparing to do a tranny tune up. How can I tell which Transmission I have?

Its automatic, and has P/R/N/O/D/1 on the column. It doesnt go into Overdrive unless I physically move it up into it.

I've decoded the VIN, and the decoder didnt return anything specific for the transmission.

Can anyone assist?

I'm not sure what year your truck is, but in the drivers door there is a tag will all the information and this should ID your tranny.
This site has a area to decode it.

its an AOD transmission i use to have one same year and everything, if u ask me i think they are garbage but thats my opinion.

Heh, all I know is a friend that helped me do some work on it, said I had a 'metric' tranny. No idea, it went right over my head and his explaining it didnt help any.

All I do recall was the comment. 'Dont drive with a heavy foot, youll blow the thing'.

Glad that I stopped driving like that a long time ago.. heh

Ok, I can only trust that I've read the spec's wrong.

Why the hell would a F150 Lariat XLT have a transmission for a Ranger in it?
