Will a double din cd player fit in a 09 f150? Crutchfield says it won't, but judging by the size of the radio area, I don't see why it won't.

i know ive definately seen someone here with one installed. cant remember who it was exactly though. this has been a topic before, but he showed that it does fit. i think he just had to get a faceplate or something for it. and the top part where it has the LED lettering, it always says "built ford tough".

Yeah, look on the 2009-2010 forums. There are lots of forums on Sound systems there. There are dash kits from Metra and Scouche that are readily available. I have a double din in my 2010, but its the same dash.

Ok I just found the dash kit for it on sonicelectronix.com I didn't see a wiring harness tho. I don't guess they make one that's plug and play, but I don't want to cut up the factory wires. I used a PAC module on my colorado and it worked perfectly, but they don't offer any thing for the f150's

EDIT: I found the PAC interface I was looking for.

One downfall of the PAC interface is the display screen will read DVD from what I understand. I ran an accessory wire from my smart junction box (passenger side panel right in front of the door jamb)One downfall to that is I dont have the retained accessory power (power that stays on for 30 seconds after the key is taken out)Call PAC's support and discuss your options. You can still get a 25$ wiring harness to keep from having to cut factory wires, but you will need to run that accessory wire. Get the wiring diagrams from the dealership and study it if you are going to try the install yourself. Motorcraft website also has a lot of info on your truck (you will have to pay for access) Good luck!

One more question... I wanted to do the install my self to save a good amount of money. I'm looking at getting the stuff from sonicelectronix.com They include a free wiring harness and antenna adapter. I'm not too worried about the radio staying on once you turn off the truck, so would I need anything else? I would like to keep the steering wheel controls tho. Looking at one of these headunits

I have the 4100 that you have listed and I love it. I was mainly interested in touch screen (which is great by the way) and the I-pod interface (and it is also great). Read Amazon.com's reviews and you will see pros and cons to it (you can get it through EB Electronics at amazon, thats where i got mine). I cant speak to the other HU. Send me your email and I will send you a word file on how to take the HU out, and a few wiring diagrams. craigadean@yahoo.com One of the cons listed on Amazon for the 4100 was about the clock being in military time....They must have fixed that issue b/c mine is 12 hour time. I have the PAC-SWI steering control and was able to maintain volumes, tracks, and media buttons (media toggles through sources: ie sirius, ipod, radio, telephone.....). I was happy with that and didnt try to gain any other buttons. You can call PAC's customer service and they will tell you what the unit can actually do. The wiring harness that ford uses is a 24 pin harness that will run you about 25 bucks. There are two other harnesses that plug into the factory HU that I didnt use. You will have to do additional research to find a "mute" wire to silence your system when you are backing up(If you figure that out, let me know)I didnt mind losing the mute b/c the backup alarm still worked. . I also have the bluetooth adapter and the sirius satellite all connected to my system. Take a look at my mods, I have all the stuff listed.

I don't have the back up sensors so no need to worry about that. It does have the sync, but it sucks something terrible so I'm not worried about loosing that either, but I prob would get the bluetooth adapter. I'll send you an email for the stuff. Thanks man.
