My Photos My Truck Mods Truck: 2004 F150 Lariat 5.4L
Morning all, I'm about to install a cold air intake on my 04 crew cab Lariat 5.4L I thought I always wanted the K&N FIPK Gen 2 kit, but when I got my new bedliner sprayed in, the company that put it in suggested I get the Airaid. Of course, they only sell the Airaid, but he also said you get more HP and MPG increase. Anybody have any thoughts one way or the other? (In case you were wondering, the bedliner was Premium One, looks awesome, also came with a lifetime no-fade guarantee, where as Line-X does not. Price also cheaper than Line-X)
They're all pretty much the same. I just ordered an S&B from autoanything.com last night. They retail for $270, they gave it to me for $240 with free shipping. S&B incorporate a closed filter case to keep out the warm engine air, making it a TRUE cold air intake.
just be carful with the oiled air filters because they can cause you problems with the mass air flow sensor as did I it took me some time to figure out why my truck was not running right until I burned up two and removed my K&N.

Before you order, I'd look into the gotts mod. Its only about $10 and if you dont like it then go ahead and order the CAI. I read on the PHP forum that someone did a test and the gotts and many CAIs give you close to the same amount of power. I did notice a difference on the upper end after installing my gotts.
2004FX4F150-Have you ever had a loud drone sound? On another forum there was a guy that was having that issue. He had one of those sealed S&B CAIs that looked really cool but it made lots of noise under high engine stress with low RPMs. Mostly when the TC locked after 4th.
