Well a couple of weeks back i came out of the store to start my truck and blam blew # 3 right out of the head(spark plug)Towed it back to my dealer cause it is still under warranty.I was a little worried because of the Vortech supercharger on it but my dealer said that he had 3 other 5.4's just that week alone in for the same reason.Well they ended up putting on a new set of heads to my surprise with no hassles. They even took care of some other work for me that was not under warranty at no charge .I got my truck back and the next day drove 1000 mile round trip with absolutely no problems. There is hope out there for a good dealer for the rest of you yet

wow, you lucky lucky man. Not saying its your fault or anything of the like, ford knows they have a problem. However they have been attempting to cast blame on engine modifications to get out of many warrenty issues that i have seen, but it seems like your dealer is really good to you so freaking score!
By the way was there any tapping or exhaust leak noises before the plug blew?

yeah, speaking of dealers getting out of warrantys with mods......my brother has a 2000 5.4 7700 and i recently put a Viper 550 remote strat in for him. well, since he has had his truck he has had starter problems(he bought the truck a year and a half ago with 80000 miles on it, with EXT warranty)
when his starter finally went bad he took it to ford and they told him that his starter warranty was voided b/c of the remote start. so i called ford and told them that by law, no add on part to a vehicle can void warranty, b/c it is an add on, not a replacement. once they saw all the paperwork, they called him back and swapped out the starter and even threw in a tranny flush for him.
so, if the dealer tells you that you have voided the warranty with an add on, you probably havent, just look it up......hope this helps some of you guys

just to point out, thats actually not directly true. The law basically states that if a warrenty is voided due to an aftermarket part, it must be proven that the aftermarket product generated the failure. Evans actually wrote a great thing about this which i found really interesting.
I cant find it but ill summerize. Basically, this law for the most part is intended to imply basic things like oil and air filters etc etc, however it can extend to things such as superchargers, pulleys, things like that. The thing is Ford (as well as every other company) typically doenst do things without reason. Take for example, your transmission fails. Your completly stock except say, you have a B&M extra large transmission pan, seemingly harmless and no way related to your tranny failure. So ford sends a rep out and voids your warrenty claiming the aftermarket pan caused the failure. You sue it goes to court and ford will nail you. Like stated before ford does things every which way with documented reasoning. Theyll pull some crap showing splash patterns for the different size pans they pull and will say "hey yeah, we knew the larger pans made problems, thats why we didnt put it on" case closed next please. Not saying that pans cause problems, just showing an example.
What happened with the remote starter was probably a fault of the starter, and fords gonna replace it because hey .. its just a starter, but as things grow tight for ford (and they are) they have the option to void it, even for things like aftermarket security, not saying its right or wrong, just saying its so.
i would say 4dfide must have an excellent dealer to do the head swap, because even though it is a problem that ford has, they are voiding warrentys for blown plugs for people that have chips or are pushing extra boost (past the 8 on Lightnings). In his case he went from the standard 5.4 and then added boost (how much boost you pushing anyway just curious) it seems like a clear void, but the dealer has the option to not mention it really.

I'm only pushing 61/2 to 8 lbs of boost which they said is nothin. As far as noise goes for a week before it blew i thought i had an exhaust leak at the manifold because it was up high and you could bareley hear it on exceleration. After it blew i knew exactly where it had been coming from.I asked the dealer if the supercharger had anything to do with it and they said "maybe" but since Ford has had a problem with it already they can't prove it.I had them redo my shift kit they installed under warranty also because i felt it wasn't shifting hard enough.Well now i'm afraid i'm gonna break something cause this thing shifts way hard now!

I bought a used 2002 had it a week and the same thing happend with my spark plug, so we bought a kit to replace it, as of now its in but when we started it,it didnt idel right like it wasent getting enough gas, and if you feel of the (new)coil pack we put on the new plug we just re threated and put the new part on, you can feel the pressure behind it like its gonna push it right out, so now what. New heads you gotta be jokeing. I knew when i bough this used and previously wrecked it was gonna be work, but crap. Guess i should shut up I only paid $4000 for it. oh and since i didnt get a owners manuall do you have to change th oil on the supercharger sepratly form the regularr oil?

It's called the Magnuson/Moss Act, and they theoretically could void your warranty for the installed remote start system. It would be hard to prove that the Viper caused the started to fail, but it would be harder to not.
