| My 02 4.6 truck has a rough idle and overall runs bad. I let my truck sit for 2 1/2 years only moving it around about every six months. It ran O.K the first day ,But when I started it up the next day it is rough and chugs,if you punch it, it will go. So far I have put 900 miles on it since getting it out (everyone told me bad gas). I have Changed spark plugs,(they were white chalky),fuel filter (was completely plugged), Fuel Pump(screen had turn into what looked like wet cardboard chunks),And had my injectors cleaned. No real change in how it runs. Now I have noticed I have oil in the tube to my air filter and the bottom of my air filter is covered in oil. Pcv seams ok sucks shut when I put my thumb over it. Check engine light does come on and says-P0175 (Rich fuel in Bank 2) I Need some Help! Thanks |

| oxygen sensor
im pretty sure it would be the second oxygen sensor on bank 2 (bank 2 would be the side of the engine with the valve cover furthest back, do believe its the right side but 4.6 may be different from 5.4) but as far as my knowledge the only oxygen sensor that will cause rough driving is the second sensor... would be the back side of the catalytic converter (very fun to change) |

| Can I check an O2 sensor without buying or replacing it. I can't afford to keep sinking money into the problem if it doesn't help. Wont a code come up that just says failed o2 sensor bank 2 or something like that. Any info thanks |

yah you'd think they would come up with a straight forward code, but i've seen them with alot of strange codes like that, there is an o2 sensor tester you can get, or find an exhaust shop they might have one..

that's saying it may be the MAF, if you had it sitting for that long maybe disconnect the battery and clean it with electrical cleaner.. that might work but usually everytime i've seen that code we've changed the o2 sensor and it solved the problem |

| I read your issue you are experiencing and I am having the same problem with a 1991 Ford F150 with a 302. Have you resolved the problem and have some insight? |

| I have the same problem with my sons' 1991 f150. Truck would run rough at idle and as soon as I put it in gear, it would stall. I found that the air filter housing, hose from filler tube and air filter had oil in them. This caused the idle air control valve to gum up. I removed the idle air control valve, cleaned all oil from it and did the same for the hose from filler tube, replaced the breather element and air filter. Truck purred like never before. Unfortunately, this did not fix underlying problem. I have to do this procedure about once a month. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is? |
