So like my previous topic my 1997 will not start i bought a new solenoid didnt work bought a new starter didnt work. When i try to turn it over it clicks and power is lost but is then restored. Also the battery terminals get REALLY hot in a split second. My brother said the flywheel could be frozen. Any ideas? Im in diar need to get this thing fixed.

Remove the serpentine belt and see if it cranks over.

I had an AC clutch jam on me last winter and it acted much the same way.

If it's a '97 4.2L it could be a hydro-locked engine with coolant in a cylinder. Hopefully this is not the problem, because the engine is already trashed.

If they're the factory battery terminals, cut them off and buy the heavy duty ones from Wal-mart or any auto parts store. This happened to me and that's what I did and haven't had the problem since

To try and start it i was using my car battery quite smaller then the original. My uncle tryed to charge the original but it wouldnt hold a charged and dropped to 5 volts upon turning it over. could the smaller battery make it not start?
