I have been reading around here for a while now and I have found this to be the place to get answers. The only problem I have ever had in my truck so far is the 4wd wont engage in the front. I put it in nuetral and switch it over and the switch clicks and the lights come on but I dont here it switch in the transfer case. I have read around and my guess is the actuator. Now with winter on its way I really need it. Anyone else have any input? Thank you in advance.

the actuator or the solenoid. There should be a solenoid on the firewall, that runs the actuator on the transfer case itself. Either that or something is wrong the hubs in the front end, possibly a vaccum line is off. (I'm not sure if they still use vac lines on them or not, think it depends on the model)

It's a 2001 Supercrew. I just went down and took off the plastic cover. The two electrical connectors that go into the top of it for some reason won't stay on when I try to puch them back in. It was hard to pull them out the first time but now they just slide back out. I don't know if this will help or not but I tried to move the arm on the actuator back and forth and it will move about 1/4 an inch when I put it in wither 4 high or 4 low. Sorry if I ramble I am just trying to be as descriptive as possible. And for me a picture is worth 1000 words.

Well, I took off the the actuator and tested it. It checked out okay. Then I looked under the hood again and found what I think is my problem. The hose that the actuator hoses run to, on the left side the black hose is deteriorated and it crumbled in my hand. I don't know where it ran to or how to replace it. I will try to get some pictures on here later though.

Thanks for the help everyone. Shrink wrapped the vacuum hose in the engine bay. Works like it should again!
