Okay so here is the situation, any help will be much appreciated. One morning I get in my truck to go to work and it will not start, so i was thinking it was not getting any fire so i replace the distributor cap and rotor, still no luck. well i dropped the gas tank and replaced my fuel pump. Still nothing. I dont hear the pump come on when i turn my key, i have checked the fuses and the pump shutoff switch. does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem? _________________ If you cant be good....Be good at it...

I have the same issue, came home from work, cut my truck off. Next morning-NOTHING, ive replaced the fuel pump, but i dont seem to have power to the pump. All my fuses in the panel are good. I replaced tank selector switch too. Unless there is another fuse somewhere, i have no idea what to do next. Can i just run power from the battery to the pump? Or will that mess up/bypass the selector switch and be a waste of time?

that is what i was thinking about doing, running a hot wire from my battery to my fuel pump, but i dont want to do that cause there has to be something wrong that can be fixed, i hate to rigg it. _________________ If you cant be good....Be good at it...

Everything im reading suggests its probally the fuel pump relay. However, ive not been able to locate it. Everyone tells me to buy a Haynes manual for troubleshooting.

I am having a similar problem. Mine is intermittent, so it will start eventually. THe fuel pump relay is in the power distribution box in the engine compt. When I turn on the ignition, the relay clicks shut, the engine turns over, but will not start. If it doesn't start there is no sound from the pump. If there is a sound it does. Inertia switch is fine, I have swapped the relay with others in the power box, so that is fine. I am thinkinng it could be something in the factory alarm sys? I can't find any wiring diagrams or how it keeps the car from starting. Let me know if you found anything!!!! THe truck runs fine once it starts. Never had it cut off while driving. 98 4.6L 130K.

If it clicks when you turn on the key you may have an open fuse link at the starter solenoid. _________________ Bill
