on my way to houston which is about 150 miles away my avg. mpg dropped from around 15 to almost 12... i was on cruise going 70....that was just for about half way....then my avg. mpg started to go up closing in on 16mpg until i reached my destination....anyone else experience this?

Was there any kind of incline (even minimal) that you were drving on for the first half, then maybe a decline on the second half. That would effect your MPG. Might be too simple an answer, but sometimes the easiest is the best.

Mine did that too after a while. I was averaging 18 on it and after a long trip 16. It seems to stay around 16-16.5 now. I have always and still do calculate mileage at each fill up and I get around 17.75 each and every time. I think the reading the computer on your truck gives is innacurate. I just changed the MPG to cylinder head temp just so I'd quit looking at it constantly. My girlfriends dad has a chevy p/u that does the same as far as reading less than what he is actually getting. I don't trust the readings from the computer. Just my 2 cents.
