i tryed cleaning my throttle body with carb cleaner with engine running and a guy from work sad it was bad to do .like to know what happen to the engine and how bad is it

if you only did it once it should be fine just don't make it a habit you should do it with the engine off

Carb cleaner/starter fluid will wash the oil off your cylinders walls, rings, etc. & lead to wear if you do it enuf. It will also take your eyebrows off & any other hair on your face if it flashes back into your face. Engine fire, is also a danger. Stuff is uber flamable.

i have heard the same thing, it is not wise to spray cleaners and such into the throttle bodies. a throttle body is not a carburetor, so why would you use a product not designed for that application? seems as though a person would be lookin for trouble doin' that kinda' thing.
