| Hey folks,
I need to get my hands on a factory intake. When I bought my truck it had a homemade intake made out of PVC and I want to get rid of it. I see a ton of guys on here with CAI so someone must have the old one taking up space somewhere.
Let me know
Pictures soon to come... |

| Sounds like someone MADE a CAI with just buying a replacement filter and making the intake tubes from pvc. |

| Heya, I just installed a short ram intake so I no longer need my old intake parts. Since we have similar model 97's I'm assuming they're what you're looking for.
I'll get some pics posted in a few minutes. |

| thats a very nice set up i was thinking like white pvc piping!
keep it.. and find a filter from the K&N catalog that will fit it..
get rid of that autozon filter that acutally doesnt flow like they claim.. i mean just from the size i can tell you it flows as if you had a stock paper filter.. _________________ 97 Lariat F-150,Superchip pro., Moser 31spline axles,Eaton LSD,B&M ShiftPlus, K&N FIPK,Flowmaster Super 44 srs dumps. | Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
Just trying to figure some way to make a heatshield to go underneath the filter.
I know injen makes a heatshield, but not sure how effective that really is. |

| all that thing is doing is sucking in your HOT engine air, a real CAI is an inclosed system, you get better performance from the inclosed systems like S&B or Volant CAI's. Hot air will kill your performance. |

I was going to build an enclosure for it, until I read another person that had a high end tuner with temp readings.
According to his data, there was a 2 degree variance sans enclosure.
So, while in theory, if I were sitting still for a long time, then yes, heat would be an issue. However, since I'll probably be moving more than sitting, it won't be sucking in HOT air.
That is unless someone has some evidence that is non-product promotional data? I'm open to scientific proof
Once I replace that filter with something better, then I'll revisit the enclosure again. |

Jeff that is such a crock of s**t......you have been listening too much to some of the bullshit that gets thrown around on this site.
That style of intake has been proven to add hp on many dyno's my friend........usually around 8-10. |

So where is it drawing in cooler fresh air from? That thing is just out there with out a dam so it getting HOT air, it's not up to the fender getting air Chris. So what Iam getting from you is this An Auotzone or Checker intake is GOOD? B>S> then why is evryone paying 300+ dollars for a K&N, Airaid, Volant, etc. for? An enclosed unit is a REAL CAI which dont suck in engine HOT air. _________________ 08' F-150 XLT 5.4L Super Crew 4x2

Oh ya, did you see the one about how the guy said I gave him great advice on the Super 44 muffler and now because I told him about it he is now happy, or how about the guy with a plastic drop-in bed-liner that had rust under the liner and I gave him an idea an he went with it and gave me props, what is your malfunction Robcc? Confront me you b***h as from your 43 post it's been bogus ones as you seem to be going after our few female members you pervert! _________________ 08' F-150 XLT 5.4L Super Crew 4x2

Easy answer.
Name brand.
Why do people pay $300 for sunglasses when a $3 pair from Walmart works just as well?
Name brand.
As I said, I'm a big fan of data, proof, and real world results. If a person posted proof that the air at this point in the short ram intake is 30 degrees warmer because of the engine proximity, lack of air, leprechauns or some such, then I'd be willing to listen.
But so far, you've not done that.
Aren't you just relying on unproven theory? |
