Hey all, first time post. I am a 23 yr old soldier getting ready to deploy in early October, and I don't want to leave my truck messed up with my mother, so please help me diagnose this problem.

Just started today. No crazy driving, up to date on all fluids, etc... The alignment(tow, camber) needs to be adjusted, although it does not pull in any direction, the tires have some abnormal wear, and when I rotated them there was some excessive road noise.

There is a squeaking/grinding sound that increases with wheel speed- squeak, squeak, squeak... but stops as soon as you touch the brakes. Truck drives no differently. Sounds bad though, and I have not been able to isolate it to a certain wheel, etc...

Why does it go away when the brakes are applied, even slightly? Please tell me a wheel bearing isn't going!!!

I'm not mechanically inclined, so I apologoze for my lack of knowledge! Please help. I love this truck-It's my first. And I don't make alot of money.

THANKS.

If that was a shot at the fact that my truck lacks off-road capabilities, it was pretty weak. It was a great deal, and I go offroad enough in my Humvee. It rides like a Mercedes on the road, and I am pretty proud of it. Sorry, I guess.

ScoutChris,
I'm thinking wheel bearing or minor brake situation too. Have a good deployment & come home safe. Also, keep in mind if your family drives your truck while your gone, you will have a tuff time getting it back when you get home.

Thanks alot. Driving to post this morning I listened to it some more. It is not a constant noise, and on bumpy roads it happens more, but still just occasionally. Any more suggestions? Something suspension related?

We are working pretty constantly getting all of our stuff in conexes, so I probably won't have time to check it out until the weekend. Any and all suggestions are welcome, so I have a good base on which to build.

Thanks alot for all of the support, the website is great.

are you serious? you asked what it could be and i was asking if your truck was two wheel drive , then it would have spindles which would have wheel bearings....a simple question to help you with yours. sorry if you misunderstood ...

best of luck

Thanks again. Any and all help appreciated.

Why wouldn't it be constant?

How much does a bearing problem cost to fix?

i wouldn't think it would be more than a couple hundred bucks, less any complications.

Just an update. Unfortunately the front left wheel bearing totally went bad, the right a little. Both needed to be replaced, along with the rotors and pads- total bill:$553

All is well now, maybe an alignment next. Thanks for all of you help to get my baby back up and running.

Also please check out americansnipers.org and spread the word- I just bought my own EOTech setup for $1030.00 out of pocket!!!
