| Hello i just bought a 2005 f150 5.4 v8 from a used dealership. It has 164,000 miles but has been taken care of very well. When i went to look at it the first day i heard a small ticking noise in the from of the truck but i didnt know what it was,,, The next day I took it to a lisenced car lab adn they said that it was normal.. now 2 weeks later since i have had the truck i can hear the ticking noise again... I am wondernig if the dealership could have done something to the truck so that they would be able to hide the ticking noise for a short time so that the technician would not be a ble to notice the problem or is this even possible? I have also been told that i might need to have my valves adjusted.. Can i getsome help here i dont thinkit is under warranty so i am trying to get help for myself... i am only 17 adn this is my first car.. if anyone thinks that somehting could be wrong with it please let me know so that i can get it fixed so that i will not be without a vehicel.. thanks-Matt |

| First answer-----no, they didn't "hide it" Almost impossible!
Second, get another qualified dealer to diagnose it and tell them it just started---don't tell them you bought it used, etc. etc.
3rd--your valves cannot be adjusted---so, no that's not it
4th---it may be normal, refer back to 2 |

| My 05 has done it from new. I have 78000 on it and it still does it. It is the cam phazers that make the noise. It was fixed for 06. I was told by the dealer that it is normal and will not hurt the motor. They have a repair for it but won't be covered by warranty unless they fail. I hardly notice it anymore and have had no issues with it. I wouldn't worry about it. You will have to live with it. |
