| Well a local dealer who has a decent reputation has 2 F150s on their lot. The first is an 06 extended cab 4x4 with the 5.4 and auto trans. It has 27k miles and is pretty basic as far as options; painted steel wheels, plain white, plain interior, etc... They want $13,900 for this one. The other one they just got in is an 06 super crew 4x4 XLT with the 5.4 and an auto again and it has 37k miles. It also has alot more options on it and is really clean looking. They want $15,500 for this one. I took my wife to look at the super crew tonite and suprisingly she really likes it as do I. It is already equipped with most of what I would want, bedliner, hitch, tonneau cover, etc.... I love the room it offers and the interior is really nice but am concerned about the mileage as it is higher than I was looking for. At what point do these trucks hit that point mileage wise where things start going like water pumps, radiators, fuel pumps, etc... that I should be concerned? Im going to take a better look at both in the morning but the dealer is closed tomorrow so I can't drive them till Saturday. Is there anything I should look for in particular on these two and how do you think the pricing is? Thanks for any help as I've been into Jeeps for a while so I'm still learning about the newer Fords now. |

well since this is ford website..... nothing goes wrong with fords. i started noticing "trouble" with mine around 90,000 miles. supercrew is the way to go especially if you might have little ones one day. also, get one of those carfax reports. _________________ 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew

| 37K mileage isn't a lot unless if it has been driven hard and put away wet! If you could find out about the problems of the truck through the carfax report that would help. Take the truck to a gravel road and try both 4h and 4l, listen for ratching, clunking etc. Try the a/c, and everything else for that matter, always leave the radio off when test driving the truck and don't let the salesman shoot his mouth off all the time, just listen and get a feeling for the truck. I hope you realise that the truck weighs over 5500lbs empty and gets crappy gas mileage, like in the low to mid teens. Also the truck market is down in the dumps right now, you could get a brand new truck for pretty cheap as well. Good luck, cheers! |

Just got back from taking a good look at the Supercrew, dealer was closed so I could crawl all around it. Its very clean underneath, looks like it was never offroad or beat up on at all. So far it looks like a really nice truck, going to take it for a ride tomorrow and and see how it does. Yep I'm well aware of the mileage, etc... I currently drive an 04 Wrangler lifted on 33s and get about 12MPG no matter what; city, highway, etc... so this could actually be a step up and has a ton more room. Most of my commute now is highway so the mileage should be better for me. I know its kind of hard to see in the picture but does anyone know what the name of this color is?

| Sorry didn't know your experience level. I have the same truck except the '07 version. Is that a brown or grey colour? Hard to tell from the picture? Is it the Dark Shadow Grey Metallic? Does it have the 3.55LS rear end? I have that and get around 20MPG highway if I keep the speed down. |

I would ask the Ford dealer for the Oasis Report. It's like Fords "private" repair record. I didn't know such a record existed until somone offered to post it on one of the forums. Some of the forum members posted their VIN numbers and within a few hours, their OR was posted in a reply. Mine showed a repair to the transfer case electric shift do-dad, and that it was covered under warranty. In other words, no big deal; but some of the others I read were extensive, major repairs, etc. I'm not sure why, but this repair was not listed on my Carfax or AutoCheck reports.
Oh, and If you decide to buy be sure to get at least 2 working PATS keys as part of the deal. Good Luck. _________________ ~ B1/2

No problem I know alot of people buy a truck then complain about the mileage they get, I figure if its at least the same or better as my TJ its a plus as it has a ton more room, etc... I think its kind of greyish green so I guess it would be the Dark Shadow Grey Metallic, looks nice. Thanks for the input and I hope I get that kind of highway mileage too. |

Its not actually at a Ford dealer but I'll try to find if I can get that Oasis report. Carfax only shows two records for it so it is clean as far as they are concerned. What are the PATS keys? Some kind of security key? |

Oh ok, I bought mine from a none factory dealer too. The truck in the picture looks really clean. Yes the PATS keys are security keys that are about $80-140 to get programed to the vehicle if you only have one key. If you have two keys you can program the third (or more keys if needed) yourself. _________________ ~ B1/2

| Well everything went through and I pick it up tomorrow. Heres all the specs: 2006 F150 Supercrew, XLT, 5.4, 4x4, auto, tow package, 3.73s limited slip rear, bed liner, tonneau cover, 37k miles, $15,500. It is extremely clean and rides so nice. I couldnt believe how nice it drove on the test drive, my last truck was a 93 F250 and this is so much better. Anyways hope I got a good deal, I will post some more pics when I get it home. |
